I was concerned about John McVie at the end of last year, I hope he is still doing okay. It's difficult to know because he seems quite a private person.

There seems to be common belief that as artists get older they just lose some of their natural creativity. But I don't think that necessarily has to be the case. I was reminded of this when listening to 'This Is Where I Came In' by the Bee Gees recently. It was one of the last songs they did and they still sounded in great form. They went through a period of being perceived as very uncool in the 80s, but they got through it.

After Elton John went through rehab, I thought he recorded some of his best work in a very long time. Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison also managed some good creative revivals in the latter parts of their careers.

So it can be done. I would love to see FM cut a strong final album to close things out on. Something along the lines of 'Yes we have been through so much but managed to find our way back together.' They still have the musical chemistry when they are live. I enjoyed watching the interplay between Christine and Lindsey at the concert I went to.

But there are definitely still some big egos in the band (in a way, that's to be expected but it's unfortunate if that is going to affect their chances of making a good final album).

When Ken wrote his book I think the most interesting thing for me in it was how it seemed the 5 people in the group were able to fire ideas off each other in the studio and read each other as musicians so well. Even though they were going through so much at the time. It must have been amazing to see that creative process unfolding in the studio.

As for Christine's financial incentive... I thought she was really putting her heart into it last year but remember when she said Stevie had offered her 5 million dollars to join the group again and she replied “Is that all! I’m only worth $5 million?!” Lol.
