I just got back from my whirlwind trip to BAH-ston and am surprised that nobody has posted about the PBS taping last night at the Fleet Center.
It was absolutely awesome! The diversity of the 1,000 person crowd was notable - college kids, people coming from work, a few kids under 10, twenty-somethings, old fogies like me , and of course the die-hards (guess I fall into that category too?! LOL)After waiting in line and listening to the sound check (Dreams, Say You Will, and I believe they did another one but I can't remember - it may have been Say You Will again?). We were able to peek into the venue, and could see Stevie with her hair in curlers. Some folks in line were given black marks on their hands, and they were taken in first. That group seemed to grace the very front and the sides of the stage. They filed the rest of us in and we all filled in the very front of the arena. Wasn't a 'bad' seat to be had! Lindsey was incredible. He's interacting with the crowd even more than he was during the first leg of the tour, and appears to be having the time of his life doing it. He is milking "Come" for all it's worth! For me, the highlight of the night was a tie between Stand Back and Tusk. Taku worked the crowd into a frenzy before the familiar riffs took hold, then the whole place was on their feet rocking and rolling. Stevie went nuts at the end, it was soooo worth a 5 hour drive in pouring rain to see this!!! During Tusk, John shooed Lindsey away as usual, but Stevie gave in and they danced cheek to cheek. When they parted, he gave a huge smile & a hoot of success - too funny! Mick spit on everyone, it was so gross. I hadn't noticed this before, but there is a roadie whose job it is to wipe Lindsey's mike after Mick is done! So now the best for last - I got Lindsey to sign my tour book! I was one of the last ones he did, too. I left the darn thing on my friend's kitchen table in Arlington , sure hope she gives it back! Anyway, those who are going tonight, you are truly in for a treat! I can't wait for MSG next week! Who else was there last night? Eileen
