RIP Prince

[elle]

Bowie and Prince within few months of each other is just......... too much. no words.

Prince was very active in the last few years, with several albums and tours, many with dates announced within a day of the gig (if not hours!). ticket prices ranged from extremely cheap for some of the gigs to very very expensive for others, and sold out even though announced so late (usually by Prince on twitter). venues ranged from tiny clubs and theaters to arenas. i saw him last summer and he gave arena-size show in a theater. he came through my area several times last year, first with unexpected peace concert for Baltimore in May, the week of Baltimore riots (http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/bal...timore-n354356, he was very active on social causes), then he did a small concert in White House in June, followed by two same evening shows in the theater in DC next day. he looked young, energetic, and healthy. i feel extremely lucky that i got to see him when he came through last year, but i never thought that would be the last show of his i would ever have a chance to see.

out of all his incredible talents, he was probably the most underrated as an amazing guitar player he was. while not necessary recognized by general audiences, he was very much recognized by the other incredible guitar players.
