If there's nothing to tie her in then rather than sitting around waiting maybe Christine will look to do something else...take the lead vocals for AC/DC perhaps. Axl Rose has a similar voice to CM these days.

I'd like to see Christine make better use of her songwriting skills; if Fleetwood Mac aren't going to use them then I'd love to see her write go away and write for a musical.

ah interesting. sounds like yet another one of those "he says / she says" issues. unless Lindsey was claiming he was leaving the band (seems that's not the case, but exactly the opposite?) i'd probably tend to believe more some neutral opinions like that Christine interview where she said Stevie was nowhere around the band at the time.

maybe they will end up putting out another Christine solo album like they did that time back in 1984?

She wasn't joking. I guess in her mind she thought he had quit. I'm not sure ... that may have been the interview where she called him "honey." I would have to find it.

Ok, it was the Australian 1984:

"Things are better now than they used to be," says Nicks. "In the old days we were angry with each other and didn't like each other. We had to go on stage and play. It was all about dirty looks and not having much fun. That's partly to do with why Lindsey left the band in '83."

"Eighty-seven," interjects Buckingham and, as if on cue, there follows a few minutes of intense discussion between them about just when the guitarist was in the band and when he wasn't.

"But honey, you really left in '83, you only came back to do [the album] Tango in the Night in 1987. You didn't tour."

Nicks gives this a few seconds' thought.

Really though she's not wrong.. Lindsey started "Tango" as a solo album, with no intention for everyone to get involved because everyone was already busy with their own solo projects. It wasn't for a while until everyone decided it was going to be a FM album.

according to your analysis Stevie was/is hiding from reality in some sort of rich celebrity cocoon, which probably makes some sense.

years between 1981 and 1987 were the most successful and busy re her solo carrier and craziest re her drug use.

Tango has nothing to do with the wait period, it came at the very end of it - they were waiting for Stevie to do Mirage, and sounds like they didn't see her much if at all after Mirage tour through 1984. in 1984 Lindsey was talking about working on another FM record. sounds familiar? wonder what happened??

In Mick's book he writes that he was trying to get the Tango album so they could tour and he could make money. He was broke. He said,

I have to say from the outset, Stevie's people were great. Mick's in a jam, they said. How can we help him? John McVie said he would be there. Christine said she was in. Lindsey Buckingham alone was fairly reticent about FM. He was enjoying his hard-won independence and deep into his own album with Richard Dashut. Eventually we worked to build enough momentum that we were able to convince Lindsey that it might go off without him. When Lindsey said he was in, things went forward. Since Mr. Buckingham was immersed in his own record, we felt it necessary to bring in an outside producer for the first time in years ...

The rest is history. They got the outside producer and pretty soon Lindsey took the helm again.

nowadays, it's less understandable if she's putting her solo stuff before the band, since solo she's not very commercial anymore and it doesn't seem to be much of a creative outlet for her. possible explanation may be that unlike for example Christine who loves working with the band and feeds off the others in FM, Stevie might be annoyed with the rest of the band and being around them creates negative vibes for her. otherwise, why wouldn't she take Chris or Linds on their offers to co-write some songs together? i'm still hoping that may happen this apr-may.

Who is the lead person "The Boss" of FM now.In a corporate world rules it should be Mick and John since they are partners besides the bands managers, promoters,Warner Reprise records and music consultants do some of the input.

I would love to see FM on Shark Tank or Celebrity Apprentice.Who will get fired first.

Nope. It's Stevie, maybe along with Lindsey, and then Mick, (although to hear lindsey on the last tour before Christine returned Stevie and Mick were in cahoots on stuff about that tour and were trying to force things on him).

It's based on who fills the seats, the biggest name draw, and the sharpest managers. That's Stevie's camp. Like it or not. And I'm not saying it's a good thing..but it comes down to name recognition/money

That may have been true 1998-2013, when the only other person fronting the band had all of three hit singles, Christine returning changes that equation (shown by the increased demand for tickets for the OWTS tour). While Stevie's had a great career and has the most name recognition, a Fleetwood Mac show without Stevie (with Christine and Lindsey fronting the band) would be a bigger draw than a Stevie solo show at this point.
