Money is in touring as I see it and the same for promoters and probably the band. There is no radio outlet for older bands. They cant compete with with Bieber and his young peers.FM always lacks in popping out albums and thats including it members solo works which that is another topic.Other artists and bands pop out albums bi yearly and have no 1 hits from each album.FM only has one number 1 hit to their credit.I cant finger point any of the members of FM of having a low output but I can blame the complete outfit for the low output.I figure by now us fans know this problem with this band and be used to of their slow doings of things.I love to see the band active for years to come and doubt if they pack it in after 2017,2018 or 2019.As we are worried .I do understand the point about their biological clock is ticking away and us fans like to see the last effort of their work. Also I doubt Mick will say anything to fans at his Q&As about the project.I cant blame him for not saying anything and he dont want it to come back and bite him in the a$$.

We fans have every right to be pissed. Two years ago, Lindsey and Christine advertised their new music as "profound" and got everyone looking forward to a new album that would come out after the tour. The tour went longer than expected, and now we're in this limbo, wondering how much longer we will have to wait to hear that "new" music. They sold it to us. We bought it. Without ever hearing it.

The fact is, if it's there and it's nearly done, then finish the damn record and put it out. We've all waited decades. Decades. Enough.

There were magazine and audio interviews and it's pretty clear that Lindsey was responsible for the drought from 1982-1987. Michele

2017. So, if we had any glimmer of hope that maybe we might get TWO albums from them when Christine re-joined the band, that hope is gone. This is the death knell. We just have to pray every night that they (and we) live until 2017. Years wasted.

yeah? i'd love to learn more, this topic and what was going on has been really interesting to me in the light of the last 7 years.

i'm guessing Lindsey must have been giving interviews that he doesn't want to work with FM and wants to go solo? he did release some solo stuff, but only 1 album in that period, in 1984.

meanwhile i'm guessing Stevie must have been giving interviews how she wants to go back to FM and does not want to keep supporting her explosive solo carrier at the time. weren't those her biggest solo years? i'm guessing since Lindsey doesn't want to record with FM she had to keep putting out solo albums in 1983 and 1985, all the while hoping she'd instead record with FM?

Christine released solo album in 1984, i have no idea whether she wanted to or was just waiting for Mac.

i'm guessing they all must have toured too between 1982 and 1987.

I'm dying to hear the new songs Lindsey, Christine, Mick and John recorded. I don't know why they don't release just one or two songs as a teaser. What's up with that? I really want to hear Carnival Begin. I'm trying to guess how the lyrics might go. There is a line in a Human Nature song "Let the carnival begin, every pleasure, every sin" which would fit the theme of Christine returning to the band and touring, but I don't think she would plagiarize another song.

Maybe it could go something like this:

Let the carnival begin
I don't want to miss a thing
I've been gone so long
And now I feel so strong
Let the carnival begin
I no longer live in fear
I'm back, I don't want to be anywhere but here!

Even if they were inclined to give sneak peaks, I'm sure they won't because they plan on including Stevie on these songs. They aren't going to show us an incomplete song.

Lindsey only put out one album in that time frame, but his follow up was used as the basis for Tango in the Night.

Stevie and Chris were working on their solo stuff in 1982. That was one reason the Mirage tour was so short. Mick talks about this in his first book. There is an interview with Chris in 1982 where she talks about her upcoming solo album where she wanted to do a few cover songs on it.

thanks!

i also found this interview with Chris from that time (on Nicole's blog, thanks Nicole! ) where she talks about her solo album, and how all Mac members were helping her on it, except Stevie who was busy with her own stuff and was the only FM member Chris hasn't seen for a year.

Even around the time of the SYW tour, Stevie was saying that Lindsey basically quit the band after Mirage. Lindsey denied it. They were being jointly interviewed and she said he quit the band and he corrected her.
