Default 30th anniversary of Italo Calvino's death

"A book is something with a beginning and an end, a space where the reader has to enter, roam, maybe get lost but at some point find a way out, or maybe several ways out, the opportunity to open a way to snap out of it."

Italo Calvino, 15 October 1923 – 19 September 1985

I had forgotten how much I had loved this author until now. His publishing house is about to release a republication of his last work Six Memos for the Next Millennium, 5 lessons he was going to give at Harvard University before his death for a strock.
I think I'll try to purchase it and I suggest anyone to do as well as his lesson on the principle of "lightness" particularly striked me:

"After forty years of writing fiction, after exploring various ways and making diverse experiments, the time has come that I look for an overall definition for my work; I would suggest this: my working method has been more often than not the subtraction of weight; I tried to remove weight, sometimes from people, sometimes from heavenly bodies, sometimes from cities; above all I have tried to remove weight from the structure of the story and from language"

I've only read one of his books - the Baron In The Trees. I bought it in 1992, and still have it.

I loved the trilogy of "Our Ancestors", I've read it in reverse order during high school, first The Baron In The Trees and then The Cloven Viscount and The Nonexistent Knight. The last (that actually is the first) is the one that I remember I appreciated the most.

We are now upon another mass school shooting . Keeping the hot topic stuff aside. My prayers condolences go out to the families that lost their loved ones in this tragic event in Oregon.

My deepest condolences.
This last summer also my grandma almost died, we caught her back at the last second. Even when they're extremely old it's hard to let go of the people we care for.

Cool Hmmm...

been lyin' down and layin' low...Not really, lol!

Sold my home and moved to Broken Arrow, OK about 1 month ago. Was married this past Saturday to my great wife Alisa and will start a new job in a couple of days, so life here has taken a total curveball and been hit for a moonshot HR.

For anyone who is interested and can access it, there's a good interview with Keith Richards on Desert island Discs, Radio 4, where he choses 8 of his favourite songs that he would take to a desert island

I've just noticed that a lot of my peers identify themselves with the definitions of demisexual, demiromantic etc believing these are sexual orientation...
I don't think these definitions are bad or wrong but they aren't surely orientations and I discovered there are many informational sites that spread this inaccuracy.
Honestly I'm a little baffled.

Looks like Apple just bought Kramerica Industries.
Could it have something to do with shipping?
