Between 1975 and 1990, Fleetwood Mac had eighteen Top 40 hits (in the US). Ten of those were Christine McVie's songs. Stevie had five and Lindsey had three.
Of the songs that made it into the Top 20, eight were Christine's while Stevie had five and Lindsey had three. Of the songs that made it into the Top 10, four were Christine's while Stevie had two and Lindsey had three. Of the songs that made it into the Top 5, Christine had two while Stevie and Lindsey each had one. Stevie had the lone Number One. So, I think Christine had historically been much more identified as the voice of Fleetwood Mac than anyone else. That doesn't diminish Stevie, BTW. Her popularity transcended the band. She was able to distinguish herself from the band and build upon it.
