The World's Longest Review of Knoxville

Tonight in Knoxville was the greatest night of my life! My best friend and I just got back from the concert, and I just had to post my thoughts and give some of the highlights. Sorry for the long-windedness, but a lot happened, so bear with me.

My friend and I had tickets on the front row on Lindsey's side, so we had an awesome view of the whole band, especially Lindsey.

Here are some highlight of the show and highlights for me as well!

Mick entered the stage first, and John enter second. Followed by Stevie and Lindsey walking out holding hands as usual. They began with "The Chain." Which totally rocked! The band came out with a lot of energy right off the bat, which continued through out the night. Lindsey seemed especially energetic this evening!

Stevie/Lindsey's highlights: During SYW, Stevie and Lindsey were talking and smiling during the guitar part. She walked over toward his and he turned and faced her. When she started playing air guitar with him, and joking around. They were really playful all night with each other.

During Tusk, Lindsey was swinging the guitar chord around and then dropped his guitar on the floor. Then, Lindsey started chasing Stevie around. Then, they pretended to fight. Then, Lindsey decided to surrender, so they danced together around the left side of the stage---cheek to cheek. It was so cute.

During Landslide, Lindsey shed a tear or two. After Landslide, Stevie put her hand up and LB grabbed it and they held hands and then he kissed her hand and forehead. Then, they hugged. Sweet!

Stevie's highlights: Rhiannon had some mojo tonight! Stevie was stomping and really howling. So cool!

Stand Back was super awesome! Stevie really rocked out on this one. She did a lot of turning and half kicks. She was really into it!

During Beautiful Child, Stevie added some extra "ahhhhhhhhhhs," something new that she didn't do the first leg of the tour. She also add a line toward the end---"I still love you." This song is beautiful, but sad.

Stevie's voice was especially clear tonight. She was really hitting all the notes!

Stevie's dad sat in his wheelchair at the end of the front row on my side (Right). It was so sweet to see him watch her perform. If you couldn't see her clearly, he would stand up for a minute by the wheelchair. I thought it was so special that he was there!

Lindsey's highlights: He did some amazing guitar work on "Come," "I'm So Afraid," and "Go Your Own Way." I'm always amazed at how awesome a guitar player he really is! Fingerpicking all those songs is truely amazing to watch. Tonight, he reminder me of Pete Townsend of the Who in the way he handled the guitar--tossing it around, swinging it, unplugging it and swinging the cord. It was so awesome! His vocals sounded really terrific too. He just had boundless energy. He is just the best performer around. All I can say is "OMG!"

These are some of my personal highlights with Lindsey : Lindsey sang right to me through the first verse of "Come." I sang right back to him. He raised his eyebrow at me as if to say, " You're dishing it back to me, huh?" I was about to die, of course. It just seemed that Lindsey and I had a karmic connection thing going on tonight. We looked at each other a lot and sang to each other a lot, which was really cool. Then during "I'm So Afraid," he stepped off the stage onto the speaker right in front of me. He knelt down. I couldn't believe he was right in front of me! I was afraid to touch him; I think he could tell. But I put my hand on his knee. He looked right at me then and mouthed to me "Help me play a little." I mouthed, "You should play," and I smiled shyly. He stuck his guitar out at me. He smiled back and encouraged me to do it, so I pick a few of the strings. I guess he thought it was cute that I was so afraid to touch the guitar and him. Come to find out all of this was on the big screen!Several of the fans around me got the touch him too, while he was knelt down, which was awesome for them too. I was so stunded that it happened; it seems almost unreal!

As the night continued, Lindsey and I are still connecting---eye contact, singing, etc. Then while, Mick is doing his drum vest solo (which was fabulous---love the way he gets into it!). Lindsey is sitting on my side of the stage in the corner but where I can see him. He is sitting over there with a towel wiping his face, etc. We are still making eye contact while he is sitting over there. So after the drum solo, he starts makes his way to his spot (He is still carrying the towel.). As he walks he stops right in front of me, bends over and hands the towel right to me! I was about to hyperventilate. My friend and I were freaking out!!!!!!! (Like me touching him wasn't the highlight of my life, now this!). Then to top it all off, on the way off the stage for the first encore, he stopped and signed my Buckingham/Nicks album, and then signed items for several fans that stood around me. (The fans I met were just wonderful. Really neat people!) When he came back for the encore during "World Turning," as he started to sing a part to me, I mouthed "Thank you so much" to him. He winked and blew me a kiss.

I AM ON CLOUD 9 RIGHT NOW! I COULD DIE NOW HAPPY! My friend and I still can't believe it! Thank God I had a witness, or no one would believe me! I think it is wonderful that they are so caring to their fans---signing items, Lindsey allowing us to touch him, etc. Also, Mick made a very nice speech about the fans and their support at the end of the show. How many bands are this good to their fans? None I have seen. We are really blessed.

Anyway, the concert was amazing, and I am freezing(to prevent evaporation) my sweaty, Lindsey towel as we speak. Does life get any better than tonight? Wow!

Wow! What a story! Good for you! And it proves how lindsey appreciates his fans when in direct contact with them. Cool! cool cool cool!

Actually, I think you probably just started a trend!!!

I got the idea for freezing THE towel from my best friend who went to the concert with me. She was like "I would freeze that towel as soon as we get home." I was like "Why?" She told me people use to freeze Elvis's towels to perserve the sweat. That way it didn't evaporate, you still have the real sweat on the towel. I laugh, but she convinced me to do it. I'm glad I did, because I got to thinking about it. I guess she is right!

Gold Dust Woman! Did he throw you the black towel?? I saw you

We were on towards the end on the 3rd row right. The people in front of us sat down like the whole time so we had a great view

I'm happy you had fun! Front row is awesome isn't it? I felt like 3rd row was "slumming"!

Stevie's daddy was right by us the whole time.

Great show-- I wrote down a bunch of stuff I saw/remembered so I will have to type it all up for everybody. Knoxville rocked !

Yes, he handed me a black towel! I was standing right in front of the stage on Lindsey's side three people over from the speaker and two people over from his mic stand. I'm tall, have blonde/straight hair, and I had on a solid black outfit. Was it me you saw?

OMG! Cool! I wish we had known we were both message board people ; we could have said something to each other! Thanks for the post!

I plan on winning one for the tall, brown- haired-blonde-highlight variety...lmao

I got my Lindsey autograph and whew....oh yes, several stares. Woohoo! I've got to write my review now...

& I was right smack in the middle of Stevie and Lindsey. You just can't get any better than that.

Long review? This one is long-winded.

Knoxville.

Oh my gosh, where to begin? I was standing exactly in the middle of Lindsey and Stevie and let me tell you, it's hard to choose who to sing back to. As usual, Stevie is absolutely gorgeous and Lindsey is...you know,what isn't Lindsey? The front row positioned themselves before the crickets even started, so I grabbed my tour book (on sale now) and placed it between the speakers and got ready. "The Chain" is just a great song to start off with--it really gets everyone going. Stevie definitely has a warming up period--I was afraid she wasn't going to smile at all until Lindsey started doing his usual glances over. Then, the real Stevie came out.

Lindsey really starts going in 'Eyes of the World.' Not that Lindsey ever really stops, but he definitely turns it up a notch here. He's playing directly to those of us right in front of him. Lots of Lindsey interaction. Stevie's not far off, she looks like she's having a great time and laughing at Lindsey when he grunts 'Eyes' instead of chanting (?) it. Lindsey did make the Peacekeeper speech, but with a little bit of an introduction this time, to which I forget entirely. But yeah, Peacekeeper was great.

Second Hand News was amazing. Stevie is definitely on at this point. She's flailing the tambourine around, Lindsey's jumping all around and everyone's sing the bam-bam-bams. It was great. Stevie came up to the mic after that to introduce 'Say You Will' -- the crowd can't wait, of course, and Stevie has this thing so choreographed, it's just crazy. There are motions to everything which everyone already knows or picks up on fast and does along with her. She looks so happy during this song. At one point she walks over to center with Lindsey playing the guitar and does a little air guitar with him, he keeps leaning forward, so close you really think he's going to go insane and kiss her and she's smiling because she knows what he's doing too. Ah, it was great.

Oh, for some reason every time I make eye contact with Lindsey he smiles and shakes his head "no" but I'm too busy rocking out to bother too much.

The front row went crazy for Come. It was mostly females and we all knew what song that was. He played around at his mic stand for a while, and a few of the girls who were standing there, then came directly center and totally played it out to me and this girl standing next to me. Oh my Lord! I think I got Lindsey sweat, but I won't complain yet. He was flailing the guitar around all over, totally going all out, as usual. Such an amazing performer. Oh! They moved Lindsey's mic to dead center--(ie, directly in front of me)"Big Love" was just...just so amazing. It's such a different perspective seeing it right there, directly in front of you. You don't think Lindsey can outdo himself, but he does it with each repeat performance.

So, then it's time for "Landslide" and Stevie comes out and everyone cheers because, you know, we all know it's "Landslide." During the song Stevie reached out to Lindsey, he took her hand and kissed it--rather long pause there. And she smiled. They finished the song and Lindsey wrapped his arm around her and she held his hand; he kissed her forehead. Ah yes, and then "Say Goodbye" which was wonderful. Stevie turned her mic towards Lindsey. At some point during the song someone yelled out "STEVIE" and though obviously trying to ignore it, Stevie smiled really big and Lindsey laughed. Oh, so good.

Beautiful Child was really lovely, but because Lindsey was right in front of me, I kept looking at him, and he kept looking at me. He squinched up his nose that time and smiled, oh Lindsey, how I love thee

Then, of course, 'Gold Dust Woman' ---oh Gosh. It was awesome. Stevie has on these black stretchy pants that don't quite reach her shoes but her skirts come down right about it. Funny. She totally rocked out. and whoever was standing next to me was taking some amazing pictures.

I'm apparently not going in the right order. Oh well. "I'm So Afraid" was awesome, I love how Stevie just sort of hovers in the corner and comes out only for the sporadic harmony---she totally lets Lindsey rule the song and watches him play guitar. You know, sometimes I forget that "Silver Springs" exists until the moment they start to play it and then I'm just like...good Lord, there's not a bad song in the bunch. The setlist is awesome. She adds "I'm just a fool" as she's been apt to do as of late and sings a bit to Lindsey, who I'm honestly captivated by.

"Tusk" is just...'Tusk' -- everyone is so ready at that point. Stevie's wandering around the stage at one point and sees Lindsey's about to do his John tusking, so she goes around to her part, near the front of the stage and sort of waits for him. He unplugs his guitar and they start play-fighting in circles until he just grabs her and they dance real close, and he's resting his head on her shoulder. Very sweet. And then Lindsey's jumps around the stage for a while, hitting Mick's drums and just sort of...finding something to do. I'm not sure if it was for this song or not but Stevie heads over to center and turns her back on Lindsey, and he comes over and plays, and they're back to back. She then bends one of her legs, tilts her head back and lifts the tambourine high above her head while he rocks out. Oh, wow. Sweet.

I think "Stand Back" is just one of the major highlights of the show. The whole front row was singing and jamming and totally didn't care about anything else. There seems to be an elongated drum solo at the beginning, but it was awesome. Lindsey's looking at me while I'm singing all the words, smiling. I don't care. I'm in Stand Back country. Encore. 'Go Your Own Way' is just...it comes so late that it's a total surprise. I'm singing all the words and Lindsey looks down at me, totally singing to me at this point and shakes his head "no" again (what is this about), but then I squinch my nose up and nod 'yes' -- he relents and smiles. Woohoo! World Turning is so much better than I remember it. Totally rocking out here. Oh yeah, so Mick does his vest thing, and he's totally spitting all over Lindsey's poor mic and Lindsey's not offstage but sitting to the side wiping himself down. I love that Mick is so energetic, he's so funny, but honestly, I don't understand a word he said. Are you ready, maybe. At some point Lindsey comes over and they jam for a bit.

"Dont' Stop' was awesome, as usual. I really like the Stevie version. "Goodbye Baby" was so sweet. No interruptions, no fights. This front row was all friendly. Some girl was holding out a picture and a Sharpie and Lindsey came over to sign it and was looking around for other things to sign, so I shoved my tourbook up there and oh yes, I got a Lindsey autograph right on the Lindsey on the tourbook. Sweet heaven.

It was a fabulous night.

Other things: They wipe Stevie and Lindsey's microphones down with Listerine before the show, and then Lindsey's was wiped after Mick's drum solo. Lindsey signed a lot of autographs, and Stevie gave a girl one of the roses from her stand. I wish Stevie made more contact with the front row, or you know, the first couple rows, but she's usually caught up in song. No big deal.

Well that was just the nicest review. I envy all you guys that got to be down front but I'm happy for you too. I've had the pleasure of connecting like that with a couple of musicians in a couple of other bands that I'm a slavish fan of, and it really does make you feel special to know that after all the years of being a fan and of really taking their music to heart, that for a minute or two, they're aware of you as an individual person and how much you've appreciated them, and you get to feel that they appreciate you too. God bless those rock stars

I had an equal amount of fun in Knoxville...we got there pretty early...and were happy to see the limos pull up..only caught a glimpse of Stevie...but got a wave from Lindsey and Mindy Stein...and I think I startled Stevie's dad when I was waving and yellin for him, cuz he looked at me weird on his scooter lol....and Stevie's dogs are the coolest dogs up close...i want a Yorkie...
