It’s no secret that baseball draws an older audience than some of the other sports. Perhaps it’s no surprise then that the big winner of the StubHub study was a band that formed in 1967. Fleetwood Mac was most popular among four MLB fan bases: the Cubs, Indians, Blue Jays and Nationals. Practically a landslide.

I’m talking about middle-of-the-road bands that turn out that lethargic, laid-back cocaine beat. The DJs love it and they play and play it all the time.”

Oh, Fleetwood Mac?

(Laughing) “Funny you should mention them. Nice people, but I have reservations about what they’re doing. But the rest of America doesn’t seem to have reservations. It’s gone into this mellow thing and I’m not keen on that. I like intense music that comes across as drama, as acting.”

The new wave has that excitement, doesn’t it?

“Well, that’s got the impetus, the energy, but it hasn’t got the music. That’s wrong as well. I don’t quite know what I prefer to listen to, the new wave or Fleetwood Mac. I often think of that and I think I would play Fleetwood Mac because I can’t take the other stuff.”

But what about FM's recorded music? Too mellow? Depends on what music of theirs he's talking about. I can't believe he heard the EP. SYW wasn't mellow. Is he talking about The Dance? He makes it sound like something that happened to their sound recently, not 18 years ago. And personally I like my music intense, but I don't like it to seem like it's "acting."

On the other thread I moved the White Album thing. It wasn't a double album so, not sure why I thought.... I think Chili always told us to stop calling it the White Album anyway.

And I suspect as a Brit he knew the McVies and Mick when he talks about knowing them … and he was probably comparing the Peter Green era band with the then-current Rumours-era band, and I could see how he would think Rumours was mellow in comparison to that.

The Sony hacks revealed many salacious e-mails and details about celebrities in the film and music world, however one bit of information is just as enticing without damaging anyone's reputation: an e-mail where director Cameron Crowe lists his 23 favorite albums of all time, including bits from The Rolling Stones, Nirvana and Radiohead.

Everyone knows that the director has a soft spot for rock 'n' roll: Almost Famous was a very loose interpretation of his time interning for Rolling Stone, while Singles mirrored the rise of the grunge movement. If anyone in the film world is able to give us an interesting list of must-listens, it might be Crowe. The odd rankings come from an e-mail to Sony Pictures chair Amy Pascal, although there's no context as to why she asked.

Those expecting new revelations will be disappointed however, as Crowe takes a fairly vanilla approach: There are no repeat bands, and most of his selections are already accepted as classics. As Billboard notes, he doesn't choose any albums post-Radiohead's OK Computer (1997).

If you want to take some scandal from this list, you can argue that he might be in trouble with his ex-wife Nancy Wilson, as he didn't choose any albums from her band Heart. Perhaps this is at the root of their split?
