Question Here's a good question for the weekend (TGIF!)

I think most of us agree that Silver Springs is awesome, and that it should have been on Rumours. However, instead of SS, I Don't Wanna Know is on there. Although it's definately not as great as SS, I like it and it's a good song for Rumours. Upbeat, but with the theme of the album.

Anyways...if you had to sacrifice one song off of Rumours in order to include SS, what would it be? I'll post my answer later.

I'm looking forward to your replies. I've had such a long week. Thank goodness it's over!

I don't think I would have sacrificed anything. I (like some people) think that all the fame and hype that Rumours got was really not the best thing for the band. I really like "I Don't Wanna Know" and I don't think any added success with SS would have been good for the band which was already stretched to the limits of endurance. Plus, we still got to hear SS on the Dance, a different version, but a good one.

It was such a stupid decision to take that one off... but then again it came back in 1997 as a majestic "lost" song and suddenly everybody loved it and it had Stevie's trademark and it was finally all for the best. But I would have put it on the record anyway: much longer albums, with longer tracks exist!

But if the game consists in sacrificing a song, I would have easily taken out "I Don't Want To Know", which, to me, is the weakest link in Rumours.

LaLa, be on the lookout for Silver Springs to be on the expanded Rumours! There is another thread a few pages down re: Amazon pre-order, check it out there.

Seriously. Think about what a uniform, polished album Tusk would have been. I'm not saying that I would prefer it that way by any means. But without all that mass success Lindsey would have never tried to derail the Rumours machine like he did, to use his words. Although I think I would have preferred a band performance on The Ledge, That's Enough For Me, I Know I'm Not Wrong, and Not That Funny, his little quirky experiments worked well most of the time and they're cool for what they are. I especially love the drums on What Makes You Think You're The One. I just think that had Rumours NOT been successful, the public would have got a real Fleetwood Mac album that was a real band effort instead of a hodgepodge of Buckingham demos and polished Nicks/McVie tunes.

But anyways, off topic!

I'd have given Oh Daddy the axe without even thinking about it. Sorry Chris!

"I Don't Want To Know" is a great song! Why that was only song from Rumours that was never performed live baffles me. It's one of the rare Fleetwood Mac songs which is truely a duet of Stevie and Lindsey. Stevie mentions how the Everly Brothers were a big influence on her and Lindsey. This song shows evidence of that influence. I would hope that they may someday perform it. "Beautiful Child" was such a rare, unexpected surprise! Perhaps they may surprise us again.

I totally love "I Don't Want to Know!" I think the vocals are wonderful. It is peppy, happy. It really showcases Stevie and Lindsey's harmony like few songs do. I wouldn't sacrifice it. I don't think you can change any of the album. It is perfection like it is. That is why it is the best album of all times! I do think that "Silver Springs" is a wonderful, wonderful song, and it is terrible that it didn't fit on the Rumours album. Destiny Rules, I guess
