true, forgot about that!

i was thinking of DR doc where Lindsey was talking about FM album, than a tour, than another FM album, and another tour.... so his initial plan didn't seem to be solo after the SYW tour, but somebody must have disagreed with another FM album and a tour, back to back, no? so maybe that's when he decided he wants a preset timeframe so that it's not "you do or you don't" with the band? hard to tell. all we know was his initial plans in DR doc (which sounded eerily similar to the beginning of this tour and long profound chapter in FM with albums and tours back to back.... the man never learns it seems?), and then that he asked for 3 years for solo.

i don't know who's too blame but 2 albums in 9 years for the band in their prime is hardly any output.

yeah that's been very clear. whether it is because she doesn't have any inspiration to write new music, doesn't have any interest to work with the band members, or wants to secure her solo legacy not as a part of the band, is unclear, but obviously other than repeated cash grabs she has no interest in any creativity with the band.

Or they continue the tour as a 4 piece ( or hire an extra vocalist and probably someone to take Lori's and Sharon's places)...LB quit right before the "Tango" tour started and they didn't cancel any dates he was replaced and the band continued on.

He asked for 3 years off when it was obvious there was no album to do with FM. I believe his initial hope was to go right into another album after that tour. Lindsey's 3 years included 2006,2007 and 2008. He released albums in 2006 and 2008. The Say You Will tour ended in September 2004.

Right. He had said that as far as he was concerned, he never needed to do a solo album again, because FM would be his new music outlet. But then he and Stevie had some kind of fight at the end of the SYW tour, so there clearly wasn't going to be a group album and then we heard that he asked for 3 years off.

But he hadn't signed on to do the tour yet when he left. Right now, I think all of them are signed on to the dates that have been announced, barring illness or death.

I agree that the involvement of a reluctant Stevie is not desirable. She and her fans will be complaining about how Lindsey ruined her songs for the next 10 years.

On the other hand, I don't think there's any need to kick her out of anything. If she gets mad and says she's not part of FM, that's fine. Otherwise, FM is still those five members, she just doesn't record with them on this album. It would be ridiculous of them to try to go out on the road as FM without her though, in my opinion. So she gets the double standard? Sorry, but absolutely not. She's in or she's out.

Lindsey and Christine have more than enough material between them, including solo hit singles, that they could easily put on a great show with about as many hits without her.

ETA: Here's how it would look.

The Chain
You Make Loving Fun
Monday Morning
Everywhere
Go Insane
Isn’t It Midnight
I Know I’m Not Wrong
Think About Me
Tusk
Brown Eyes
Trouble
Say You Love Me
Big Love
Never Going Back Again
Over My Head
Hold Me
Eyes Of The World
Got A Hold On Me
I’m So Afraid
Go Your Own Way

World Turning
Holiday Road
Don’t Stop

I know they could and I know how you feel about Time and it didn't depress you, but them going out as Fleetwood Mac and not selling tickets would feel bad for me at this stage of their career.

I would love for Christine and Lindsey to go out together, even with John and Mick, and call themselves something else and play smaller venues with great sound all over the country. I'd be all up for that, just not as "Fleetwood Mac."

There's really no equivalent between this and Time whatsoever, other than Time shows the pitfalls of having somebody who is only half a member of the band. THAT band was essentially a souped-up cover band, which didn't depress me then because they didn't have an album out when they were touring. What I'm suggesting would have 4/5 of the Rumours band. They'd be playing their own songs.

If Lindsey can do theater tours as a solo artist, I don't see how Fleetwood Mac with Lindsey and Christine couldn't play larger venues.

It's 80% of the classic Fleetwood Mac. It would have to be Fleetwood Mac. If they opted not to call themselves Buckingham Nicks during Christine's absence, they sure aren't going to call themselves anything but Fleetwood Mac now.

Well, you're probably right that that's what they would do, but it would just invite all the critics to talk about how much they're hurting in Stevie's absence. At least if they acknowledged they weren't FM, then no one would go with the expectations that they were.

A good question is what should they call themselves. Before Christine returned, they tossed the "Men of Mac" name around.

I wonder what would be a good name for the four of them. Maybe "Four Mac."

I'm not sure if that's as important to them at this point as having a functioning band.

Why would they have to acknowledge that they weren't Fleetwood Mac? What exactly would they be? If it looks like Fleetwood Mac, sounds like Fleetwood Mac, has 80% of the people from the classic Fleetwood Mac, then it can only be one thing.

They'd stay Fleetwood Mac. Didn't change their name when Christine left, when Lindsey left or if Stevie leaves. Never have, never will. No one person is bigger than this band, no matter how many solo albums Stevie sells. They're in the Rock Hall of Fame, solo she is not. As much as I love her solo work (and I do love her solo work) that's just the plain, harsh, simple truth. They did just fine missing a member in the late 80s, they did just fine again in the 2000s, I'm quite sure it'd be just fine yet again minus Stevie.

However, "Fleetwood Mac: The Broken Chain" tour has a nice ring to it. Or if they really want to go for a jab below the belt, "Fleetwood Mac: Without You 2016 Tour"

I doubt they have that resolve. With Mick talking about the new songs being released on a solo LB album, it sounds like they're scared to release a "Fleetwood Mac" album without Stevie, much less go on a "Fleetwood Mac" tour without her.
