Fleetwood Mac not in it for the money

I did not see this posted. The only new interesting part is Mick seems to be answering the fans about FM being a "cash grab" band.

Drummer Mick talks of band harmony as they add two more UK dates for 2015

Mick Fleetwood says Fleetwood Mac couldn't perform together if they weren't friends.

On the day that the band added two more London dates to their 2015 tour, the drummer laughs off suggestions that relationships remain strained within the group and says they could never pretend to get along for the sake of a pay cheque.

Fleetwood Mac recently welcomed Christine McVie back to the fold after 16 years.

Fleetwood tells the Guardian: "That whole 'extreme fear and loathing' thing is a load of bollocks. It’s boring when I have to explain why we still want to be doing this. Some bands admit they don’t like each other, but they can sign a piece of paper and walk on stage. Nothing wrong with that, but we can’t do it. We have to have some emotional credibility to what we’re doing.
"Elton John and Eric Clapton work more than us, and they certainly don’t need the money. Have you ever thought that we actually like doing what we do?"
He also recalls taking a pee on the lawn of The White House ahead of a show for then US president Bill Clinton.
He continues: "I was dying to pee and I didn’t have time to go back to the house before we appeared. I was saying to my manager, 'What the **** am I going to do?' I was dressed like Mr Rumours, in knickerbockers, with my wooden balls hanging out.
"The security guys must have heard because suddenly this fella with an earpiece said something like 'permission granted to urinate on the lawn.'"
Fleetwood Mac are currently working on a new album, and next year they'll play nine UK and Ireland arena dates as part of their On With The Show tour. They today announced they had added London shows on June 22 and 24 to the original seven dates.

There are plenty of artists who play big arena shows (Dave Matthews, Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are 3 that came to mind) who do NOT charge what Fleetwood Mac charges. I'm a huge fan, and I will always go to see them, and people, being people, have faults, and this is one of theirs. They say, on the one hand, that their fans matter so much to them, but then they charge huge amounts for tickets because they can. I will go to the concerts, and I'll love the concerts, but I will resent the price of the tickets and I will NOT respect them as people.

I believe it when Mick says that if they weren't friends, they couldn't tour together. But, that doesn't mean they aren't also in it for the money, or that they respect their fans.

I dont really fault the Mac for what they charge for their concert tickets only because I go to a ton of shows and they have been so expensive for years now. Katy perry was asking $150 a ticket as well as Maroon 5 charges close to that I think around $145 and Sarah Mclachlan is asking $127 for a close seat and the list goes on and on. These artists dont play for as long as the Mac so for me I think its totally worth it for what you get. The cheapest ticket I bought this year was Heart at $90 a ticket. Sure I would like to pay less for concerts but the reality of that is that its never going to happen so I dont complain. If I am really strapped for cash I wait until the day of the show and get them for less than face value off the ticket brokers.

Ouch you guys are so harsh
Supply and demand dictates the ticket prices. If they were not selling out arenas all over North America then of course the ticket prices would come down.

People love to create drama. Stevie and Lindsey are fighting.... Stevie is sad...Stevie wont do the new record, blah blah blah. All nonsense. They are loving every second of this tour. I have never seen Stevie and the rest of the band so energized. They have been through so much and YES it is true... they ARE friends. It was not always that way but today its true.

If they weren't in it for the money they would have recorded another album first. Albums don't sell, tours do. Stevie will do a cash grab tour where she barely has to look at Lindsey (they're all doing it for the money) but refuses to record with him. That's just the way it is folks.
