The problem with the BTM and Time bands is that they were trying to be subservient to the "Rumours" sound and image instead of forging a new identity, which the band had always done before. They COULD have forged a new sound, but opted to play it safe, and it started with "Tango" tour. That tour set a bad foundation for the band going forward. But, I'm not sure Billy had the assertiveness that's required to lead a band down a new path, like Lindsey had. The problem magnified when Dave Mason joined, because they were also being subservient to his legacy instead of focusing on new material as well as Billy's BTM songs.

And that is exactly what I didn't like about the post Tango/pre- Dance Line-ups of FM in a nutshell. Thanks dude.
