comments about Chris...starts around 5:04
..she had some new ideas for songs.. so when we were at the end of our tour last year in England, she had given me a bunch of material in very, very rough form-- just singing and ...piano and voice. And I took it home... and... did what I have always done for her, and Stevie-- I constructed it, and produced it and made demos of it. Sent it back to her… and… and this was very reaffirming for me, too, because this was a piece of what I'd always done, that had been missing, you know? Um, my dynamic with Stevie is a little different... so, you know, um…. Christine really wanted this from me at this particular time, and I was able to give it and so… after.. you know, prepping, she came over and we went into the studio for a couple of months… [……] […] it was better than ever. It was magical. We, we just jammed and…. we..we.. you know, cowrote. I brought in some of my material, some of which I'd had from before, and some newer things, and we ended up recording with John and Mick about 9 songs in the period of about two months and getting them about.. mmm... 75 percent to completion. Um, Stevie was at that time uh...otherwise engaged, and… you know she's planning on coming in at the end of this tour at which point we will finish this and put out some new product. So rather than taking his masculinity away, it sounds like Christine actually gave some of it back to him.. ![]() Last edited by bombaysaffires; 10-17-2014 at 03:22 PM.. |

This was a very good interview. I wish the interviewer pushed Lindsey just a little bit more: what kind of adjustments did you have to make? Playing Peter Green's and Bob Welch's songs, for instance? If Tusk is your favorite album, why do we not have a presentation in the best formatting? Why don't you play most of your Tusk songs live? What will the band do to mark the anniversary of the album/will those songs ever be properly featured as to bring more exposure to them? He said Bleed to Love Her couldn't fit into the set, even though he loves that song and does it for sound checks. Why couldn't it fit? What goes into making a set and deciding what "fits" and what doesn't? My take on this was Lindsey doesn't always get what he wants and the band vetoes...though I always though Lindsey had the most pull with the setlist. It Takes Time? Really, Lindsey?
We all know if any songs from that EP get placed onto this album it'll be Without You and Sad Angel Won't exactly be a shocker either, though I happily look forward to a day with Christine's vocals added to Sad Angel. |

They're all his songs and he's the producer so I would assume he'd have the most say over what among those songs would go on the album.

I loved this interview because it was intelligent; the interviewer was knowledgeable and asked some in-depth questions. It was more like a conversation, and seemed so intimate.
Despite his big ego, Lindsey comes off as fairly humble and very insightful. He appears to be very self aware if himself and the circumstances around him. I feel I have more of a connection and understanding of him now. We can bitch all we want -- about questioning their decisions and wishing he/they should do this, play that -- but I am coming to realize they have a different perspective and relationship to their work (songs, albums, performances, choices) than we have.

doesn't surprise me. that song always sounded unfinished, and we know his plans were to just make available for download Sad Angel and Miss Fantasy at the time. then Stevie came in with the idea of an EP instead, and they needed one more song in addition to a BN song she brought in, so he compromised and put the song he considered unfinished out there.

solo fans have pressed him for years on not playing more OOTC songs, and he finally started adding some. although we all think we know why he didin't like playing them. i would have liked to hear more talk about solo stuff; interviewer tried a few times but didn't really go into enough depth after LB's answers.
