And I know Stevie likes to be somewhat ambiguous with her lyrics but the whole Bombay Sapphire line that goes:

"It is green...it is aquamarine...it is colors I have never seen...
I can see past you to the white sand...
It is blue...it is all about you...it is all true...(Does Horton Hear A Who?)

and then the..."Here I am dramatic....Here I am not waiting...Here I am not listening.." (It reminds me of a narration to a boring slide show...)

And I also don't like the "Thousand Days" lyric:

"Well I can see the trouble...
The sun is here today and I requested a storm
But I like some kind of Time/Life edition...tradition...competition...(again it sounds like Dr. Seuss)...being the only thing that I really have to remember...the great singers and the great players..."

Complete and utter nonsense!!

omg.... horton... lol.... you are cracking me up... i'm in giggle fits over hear reading these.... and in thousand days.. dude i always thought it sounded like stevie was rapping "i like some kind of time like edition traditon competition".... lol.... it sends me into hysterics all the time!!!!!!

i always thought it meant Venus the planet... also known as the evening star... cause it's the brightest "star" you see in the sky, and normally the first when the sun sets... if you watch it... it really appears to "glitter" and sparkle.... i thought it was cool that she was saying that the brightest "star" in the sky is dim when compared to her lover.

LAME: Most of "Silver Girl," especially "She was a girly girl/Lost in a man's world," though at least that rhymes. "She would have preferred the last generation/But that's all right; she's on her way." THUD.

GREATNESS: The end of "Silver Springs" has possibly the most powerful rock lyrics I've ever heard. "I'll follow you down til the sound of my voice will haunt you/You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loved you." CHILLS.

From "That Made Me Stronger": "Once more I tell the shadows of my soul to stay back."

"Blue Denim": "I'm going away for a little while/To remember how to feel/And if I find the answer, I promise you/I'll come back and get you." Wow.

When Stevie's on, she GREAT; when she's off, she can be painfully bad!

I hate to nitpick (well no, not really), but I hate when she ALMOST rhymes.

Enchanted is a good example. Great songs & lyrics, but I hate the "In these dreams that no one knows OF/My destiny says that I'm destined to RUN"

I always sing it as "My destiny says that I'm destined to LOVE".

Another example: In Planets of the Universe, she sings "Looking up at skies on FIRE/Leaving nothing left of us/To DISCOVER"

Is it SO hard to change Discover to Desire, Stevie?

(And I won't get into the LEAVING nothing LEFT of us redundancy.)

Thanks. I feel better.

- Jake

The way POTU works for me is I think of it as this (added lyrics in []:

The bright light is lying down
[into] The earth and the sea and the sky
[Now the light] Is at rest with the ocean
And [so that is how] the days go by

They [the sun and the moon] go into the seas that have no shores
[So like them - we are] Haunted by that same closed door
[Yet we are] Looking up at skies on fire
[and in that light we see it] Leaving nothing left of us
To discover

Does that make sense? In other words she is saying there I was on the beach watch another day end and this beautiful sunset in which the sky seemed to be on fire and I thought, just like every day must end, so must we.

Sure it makes sense.
I just had no idea she was trying to re-create a mystery of the Dead Sea Scrolls fragments with this song!

And she was born in the desert, so she knows how it feels there. (She sends that to you, too. )

AND - I think we can equate "Cliffdweller" with "Cavedweller."

And we can equate Nag Champra with SahaPra Desert.
(Or Sinai Peninsula = Sinai Tuskula in Mac jargon )
