She seems to have been heavily influenced by his 2000 release Alone With Everybody. And why not? It's one of the most underrated records of this century.
Silver girl sucked. I hear a little influence but not that much. The only problem I have with your assertions is that Stevie is not an actual musician. She couldn't play this music in demo form. What does she do - tell her musicians and producer to copy his tracks? Would Lindsey do that? It was his guitar on Illume. Very strange.

Wasn't it Waddy who took credit for the Edge of Seventeen riff? She didn't create that riff. Maybe after the success of Edge she started to listen to his music for more ideas.

actually the interview I read he described coming in to work on the song and hearing what they had in mind and playing it, and then later, hearing the Police song or someone playing it for him and him saying to himself, "my god we really ripped them off"

He has since backed off those remarks, but it always made it sound like someone (Jimmy? Stevie? both?) had the sort of riff they wanted in mind and he executed it, and later realized it was a copy of the Police. But who knows.

This snippet is another snippet that got a bad wrap. The song is excellent, with some added lyrics and plenty of atmosphere…

…and the sands time like shattering glass go past her, straight back to the sea…

really good ending.

That's good to hear. I'm listening to the demo a lot at the moment (whilst trying to wait patiently for this album) and I just LOVE that line.
