really? sorry i might be slow... you are being sarcastic, right, to elicit some reactions? because isn't that practically what they are doing now?

Monday Morning
Warm Ways
Blue Letter
Rhiannon
Over My Head

Crystal
Say You Love Me
Landslide
World Turning

Sugar Daddy
I'm So Afraid

on average, i probably dislike hearing white album songs over and over even more than Rumours ones. Rhiannon? Landslide? ISA?

i'd much rather hear the whole Tusk, or the whole SYW. those are the songs we never hear! or even Tango, although i don't care for most Tango songs nearly as much but it would have been interesting change.

Well, I just followed Pink Floyd's M.O. from their late '70s touring model, sort of.

If I followed it fully, the set would be:

New album in its entirety (whether or not it had been released by the time of the start of the tour)
intermission
Previous album in its entirety
encore
the song with the most airplay from the album before that.

So, using that for Fleetwood Mac we'd have been rid of Rumours tunes by 1987.

Now following that pattern for the upcoming Fleetwood Mac tour, the set would be:

All of any completed songs for the new album (I'll toss all 4 EP songs in this category, too)
Intermission
All of Say You Will (including "Not Make Believe" & "Love Minus Zero/No Limit")
encore
"Temporary One", "Sweet Girl" & "My Little Demon" (since they would've played "Bleed To Love Her" with SYW)

I'll even give them a bonus track & end the show with "Songbird".

Does this set list surprise me in any way? No. Well, a little. I did think that they'd include 1 or 2 NEW songs that they've been recording. And, maybe even figure an arrangement of one of Stevie's 24 Karat Gold songs that she'd written for FMac. Oh, wait, what am I thinking? This is Fleetwood Mac...never mind.

And, under NO circumstances should "Oh Well" EVER, EVER, EVER be a "surprise" in a Fleetwood Mac set list. It should be standard operating procedure. Without that song, and the person who wrote it, they wouldn't be standing on stage in 2014 as Fleetwood Mac. AND, that they've not paid homage to Bob Welch via playing ONE, just ONE, effing song of his in concert since his passing is the rudest, sickest, most despicable behavior ever.

But, again, what am I thinking? This is Fleetwood Mac...never mind.

So, Fleetwood Mac is coming around again in concert, Christine's back....NEVER F-ING MIND!

(really, really sad, I kinda wanted to see Christine again...but, after how they've acted...eff it.)

I agree with allot of what you are saying.

I think those of who are addressing our displeasure with the setlist (if this is legit) have made some very valid points. On one hand I myself am stoked to see FM with all 5 members present (something I thought would never happen). However on the other I am disappointed with the setlist and even the tour for several reasons. Back in April of 2013 when I saw the IYD screening and Q/A in Toronto Stevie had talked about doing a solo tour packed with rarities next year and made no mention of doing a new CD. We all know the Christine coming back threw them all for a loop but it didn't explain why as soon as they announce her return Stevie is all "see ya later guys" and takes off to Nashville to make a record. If this was some sort of record contract obligation why did she not say something at any time last year about doing another album. Because of her leaving and the others working on the new music little time seemed to be spent on really digging deep and coming up with a setlist that was not simply a retread of last years tour (minus 5 songs). If this setlist turns out to be legit that will mean only 4 songs will be new and not have been in any setlist since 97 and that to me comes across as pure laziness and in Lindsey's case very hypocritical given how much he trashed the Eagles for resting on their achievements which is exactly what FM is doing.

What they should have done is once they knew for sure Chris was coming back they could have let Stevie do her album and a short tour this fall and then next year finish the FM album and tour behind it. The album and tour would have been a big hit I think because the way it could have been marketed as the first all new album in 27 years to feature all 5 Rumors members. As it stands now when (if ever) will Stevie get to promote 24 Karat besides maybe a record store signing or two and perhaps an appearance on one of the talk shows etc?

With respect to the setlist I know the band feels the majority of fans only want the familiar but if they stopped and looked at their vast catalog they would see they have allot of great material to chose from so that should be reflected in their setlist selection. For me this setlist cries laziness. Do they need to open with the Chain every show? Since Chris is back why not open with Hold Me or SYLM? They were hits and the audience would enjoy them. As for World Turning it has been part of the encores now for 3 tours and needs to go. Surely then can do something else (Blue Letter perhaps). I'm So Afraid and Big Love and real showstoppers but they have been done to death and he should try something else. I thought Family Man and Tango would substitute nicely for those songs. Another song I think could work as part of the acoustic set would be SMAP and That's Alright as they are not too rocking that they wouldn't work in that acoustic setting. SHN, GDW and NGBA are also songs that were not even singles so they could easily swap them out and do other non singles from other albums. Why not try BTLH again as it is a great song and Christine did sing and play on the track . It would be a great way to play something off of SYW. If they must do Rumors songs then at least dust off IDWK since it is still the one track never played live. Also simply swapping out NTF for IKINW is the safe choice rather then trying to do something else from Tusk. Even Stevie seems to be phoning it in with not 1 new song different from the last tour. I really thought Angel and 7W would be in for sure since 1) Every previous tour has featured one of her lesser known tracks from Tusk and 2) AHS had that performance (even if it was just lip synced) and it was hit back in 87 and I think that the audience would have enjoyed it.

For that matter you could also ask why on earth for nearly 40 years they have ignored Bob Welch's material from 71-74? I really think Hypnotized would go over well as it is a Classic Rock staple.

Tango, Murrow and Come would all work nicely instead of ISA. personally i would choose Murrow and Come over Tango. but please no to Family Man!

re Big Love, i think he tried but never succeeded to produce another complete showstopper like that, so he always keeps coming back to it. but Red Rover is something that can be used to supplement there. and of course Bleed to Love Her is pretty intricate in parts.

and WATL instead of SMAP.

now we are talking!

I don't know ... When Red Rover was played, it wasn't a supplement. Both Come and ISA were still in the setlist along with it. I don't see Red Rover as an adequate replacement for either. It cannot even reach the level of Come as far as audience engagement. Not in an FM show. Maybe solo.

"Red Rover" would be an adequate replacement for "Big Love". Especially if he insists on doing "Big Love" alone.

It could go in the spot that a solo "Big Love" would go, then go back & (or finally) do a full-band version of "Big Love" much as they did the full band version of "Go Insane" last tour (or was it the tour prior? Didn't see either one, so don't have it in my memory bank)

I agree with and love everything you expressed in you said in your post. All the salient points you made are exactly how I feel.

The redundancy of their set lists is so baffling and frustrating, since they have such a rich, large body of work that goes ignored. They all seem to lack the bravery to stray outside the confines of certain songs; their reasoning that they have to placate the mass public. Each time they tour, you'd think they would want to change up the format and song sequences to distinguish it from previous tours, and take more stock in never/rarely played album tracks. or give a nod or two the band's history -- songs from Peter Green era and the rich middle period albums song, a Buckingham Nicks song, or a song from each of their solo works (not Stand Back or Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You), but something that similar to their style, such as Trouble, and pretty much anything from Christine McVie. Even some inspired, well-chosen cover songs!

I was so envious when Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers released their 5 disc Live Anthology with 62 live performances, consisting of hits, deep album tracks, rare tracks, solos and covers. It reveals how, over the course of their career they have performed a vast variety of songs. I wondered if Fleetwood Mac could pull off something similar to this. Would it ever cross their minds?

I love their early shows in 1975/76, when they had to fill in their sets with Fleetwood Mac's older songs prior to the Buckingham Nicks era. For a little while they even closed their shows with a long version of Hypnotized. Once Rumours was released most of those songs disappeared.

Remember how Stevie in countless interviews said that Fleetwood Mac needs to tour and go away for three years? She had a three year plan, which included making a new record, that got completely thrown out the window when Christine came back. I see her going to Nashville and recording an album of songs most of her fans already had as a way to free up the next few years so she can dedicate that time to Fleetwood Mac.

I don't see the connection. Her not being present in the studio should have no bearing on the setlist, other than there won't be any new songs. They don't have to be together to figure out which deep tracks they'll be playing. That's a conference call.

Other than that, the setlist is a disaster for those of us hoping to hear songs rarely, if ever, performed, or even old workhorses that were retired years ago (i.e. Get Like You Used To Be, Blue Letter, or Spare Me A Little).

They could easily do their "must do" songs and still have room for 8-12 songs, the "must do" songs being:

Say You Love Me
The Chain
Dreams
Everywhere
I’m So Afraid
Rhiannon
Big Love
Landslide
Tusk
Gold Dust Woman
You Make Loving Fun
Go Your Own Way
Don’t Stop
Songbird

I have to disagree because it has NOT been done by Christine and Lindsey in 34 years.

Well, I must admit, I am usually the FIRST one to b**ch about redundant set lists. Moreover, the "set list" that's being posted for "On With The Show" is completely stale. BUT, I NEVER EVER (NOT IN A MILLION YEARS) thought I would see the Rumours 5 lineup perform a FULL concert onstage together again. So, I have no choice but to remain ecstatic! In 1977 (as a 7 year old child), on the Rumours Tour, I witnessed this lineup onstage for the first time. Moreover, in my 39 YEARS as a FM/SN fanatic, this will ONLY be the 4th time that I have seen this particular lineup live (Stevie, Chris, John, Mick, Lindsey). So, I will be walking on Cloud 9 when Chris ends the show with "Songbird" and the 5 Fireflies take a bow. I am a heck of a lot more excited about this tour than I was in 2013 (what was the point of that tour, I still haven't figured it out?)

Your must is my disgust. It's not a Fleetwood Mac song; it's an interloper that should have never been invited to the show. It was the guest that overstayed its welcome. It needs to go back to Stevie's solo home and stay there.
