Well, this and "The Dealer" are digital singles -- but, so far, there have been no promo CDs sent out to radio for either of these two tracks. So there's a distinct possibility that the first officially-released radio single, will be another track altogether. Or, if it does turn out to be one of these two, Warners will most assuredly issue a "radio edit."

I wouldn't mind the length if there was more lyrical content, but singing the same verse/chorus four times over is a little excessive. However, it is still a great song, but would have benefited more from a bit of editing. It reminded me of Italian Summer, where she just belted out the same verse/chorus over and over.

Anyone know how this/24K is doing in the Aussie charts?

Disagree. The length sometimes makes the song truly epic. Annabel Lee's coda is my favorite part of the song. Moonlight is about perfect. I also love the long versions of Gypsy and Planets Of The Universe.

I think it could be a minute or so shorter, but I don't think it needs to be. For me, the building vocal is more than enough to keep it interesting despite the repetition in the lyrics. But each to their own, of course.

As for the production, I think it showcases the lyrics perfectly, and what beautiful lyrics they are. I think Stevie might have out-poignanted herself here.

Now to more technical matters:

Did you order yours from the Australian store? I was overseas when the pre-orders started, so I only ordered mine last week. (And to tell you the truth, I'm not really sure what I've ordered but I knew damn well I wanted it!) Initially I didn't think I was getting any digital downloads with mine, and then The Dealer appeared in my inbox this morning, but still no Lady. I also don't seem to have an account with the store, even though I thought I did. So confused.

They should edit out the middle part because the end part is the best

If FM aren't begging Stevie for all they are worth to perform "Lady" on this upcoming tour then they are incredibly foolish because this could be a real show stopper...

I agree! For the most part the songs are better long versions

I know we're talking about absolutely different styles but I grew up listening to progressive rock, so I appreciate long songs. I think (the) Lady is perfect the way she/it is.

I'd be okay with Stevie Doing an Album with songs all comparable to that of a Rush Album. A Ten minute Stevie Suite would be okay in my book.

Nope. You are just wrong. Almost half of the songs on IYD were too long. Annabel Lee was no more epic than this song. Lady is more meaningful however and sinks in a little deeper.

it's not the length, unto itself, that is the problem, it's what she does with all of that time. She doesn't add any new nuance to the story, she just repeats the same material (which is great the first 3 or 4 times) another 2 or 3 times which doesn't add any new color to it. Just have a couple fewer repetitions at the end, (taking about a minute or so from the part starting around 3:10 or so where you *think* its over) do the big build up and let it have the same smashing ending.

See, I think "Without You" is too long by about half a minute, because all Stevie & Lindsey are doing is "oohing," "ahhing" and "yeahing." But, to me, "Lady" offers something essential in its final two minutes. While she may simply be repeating lyrics that had already come before, her voice is saying so much more. At least to my ears.

I do agree, however, that it needs to be shortened if they're hoping for any radio play.

I love the longer songs. One of my pet-peeves is when the tracks are faded too early.

Jondalar - There's just NO WAY Moonlight, or Annabel Lee is too long. I'll agree with Ghosts Are Gone - it could have been edited right off the album.

Lady is just right to my ears.
