As far as "Lady" goes, it's pretty amazing. It's a stunning song, simple yet powerful. The lone piano production is very effective. And then there's her vocal...

Would you happen to have a link to a high res version of "The Dealer"? If so, can you post? Mucho thanks if you can! ![]() |

I don't post often but this time I felt like I had to chime in. This song totally got me. I really started to tear up. It is why I fell in love with Stevie back in 1975. It has that intangible thing, that totally raw emotion that is the essence of Stevie. I love the vocal. I'm going through some bad stuff now and the lyrics to this song are where I'm at and it gives me strength. Thank you Stevie for once again making me fall in love again with your music. Well I never stopped but this one is A+ in my book. I can never get enough!!!
SHE HAS GOT TO PLAY THIS ONE LIVE!!!!! It could be the new song she ends her solo concerts with. And even better with Stevie playing it on piano. That not going to happen but I do see it as a show closer. I wonder what the rest of the members of FM think of her record? I just hope whenever they do record the album that Dave is doing Stevie's songs because it just seems like she is so much more confident again with her writing and singing. Just hoping he's available by the time they get around to recording. Can't wait to hear what the critics think of this one. If they don't like, they are idiots!!! |

After absorbing the song, I can honestly say that I love it to pieces. It's simply stunning. Just Stevie and the piano, with her voice really soaring. The moments of vocal strain just add to the charm of this song. I'm so glad she never recorded this song earlier in her career, as it's such a fitting song for an older artist.

For the most part, WB seems to be releasing clips on Tuesday & Friday. Since we got Lady early, I'm guessing today's clip will be bypassed... and hopefully we'll get a new clip on Friday.

That next clip will be a song we have never heard, written in 1995. The song is titled "Hard Advice"

But, I also think it's more than that. Her dad and mom have both died. She's pushing 70. How many more years can she hold onto these songs and worry about them being perfect? How many more years will there be to record new albums? How many years were wasted worrying about image, weight, perception, vocals, sales - things that really don't matter because art is subjective. What *could* her output have been between 1986 and 2011? I'm sure Stevie feels her own mortality more than ever. Whatever it is, I'm just glad that it *is*.

I think she truly believes she will live well into her nineties, as she often says the women in her family do.
Of course, that doesn't mean she thinks her voice will be good that long. So, I agree with you she may feel a certain urgency. She knows she can't sing and perform forever, but I don't think she feels her own mortality, other than to estimate she might have 25-30 more years. When it comes to thoughts of death, she probably is sad for all of her friends whom she expects to go before she does. Michele |

well someone badgered Richard Dashut into listening to Lady and giving his opinion.
He thinks it's about a minute too long and under-produced; needs some Lindsey guitars and a bunch of backing vocals. ![]() |
