Would someone mind spelling these out for those of us who are less researched?

I second this, especially since some of them were recorded for more than one era and we could end up with one or another or both (e.g. The Dealer, If You Were My Love, Belle Fleur).

Starshine, If You Were My Love, 24 Karat Gold, Belle Fleur, and The Dealer were all demoed and/or recorded for Bella Donna. Belle Fleur was recorded again for The Wild Heart.

The Dealer had previously been demoed for the Tusk album, and If You Were My Love was later recorded for Mirage and then Street Angel.

Mabel Normand and She Loves Him Still are from the Rock a Little era. All the Beautiful Worlds was originally recorded for The Wild Heart.

Lady and Cathouse Blues are Buckingham Nicks-era demos. Carousel might be, too. The demo for that has never been circulated.

Hard Advice dates from around 1995. We all assumed it was an alternate title for That Made Me Stronger, but evidently not. Another previously uncirculated one.

Blue Water was recorded around 1978, but I don't believe it was done for any particular album. Watch Chain was recorded during the Tusk sessions.

No clue about I Don't Care.

Just checked "Carousel" is from 1981 also (Copyrighted in 1981)

Cool! Thanks for that info. So it's another "Bella Donna" era demo. I'm wondering now, if maybe we've heard it under an alternate title. Maybe the word "Carousel" isn't even in the actual song and is merely a metaphor for something.

Although the only other songs that she's written (that I can think of off the top of my head) where she doesn't sing the name of the title is "Wide Sargasso Sea", "Moonlight" and "Sable On Blonde".

But I'm still strongly leaning towards the idea that we've never heard this one before.

If you are making a playlist, a good song to play after Lady is Count on Me by Jefferson Airplane.

EDIT ~ Now that we know for sure that "Carousel" is NOT a "rocking song".

I was recently thinking about this as well...

Side A closes with "Twisted"
Side B closes with "Lady"
Side C closes with "Carousel"
Side D closes with "She Loves Him Still"

Well we've already heard the magnificent "Lady" which, in my opinion, is a great song to close that side. If the live version of "Twisted" is any indication of how she's decided to re-record it, then it will be a cool rocking mid tempo track.

On the other end of the spectrum, let's examine the OPENING tracks for each side...

Side A opens with "Starshine"
Side B opens with "24 Karat Gold"
Side C opens with "I Don't Care"
Side D opens with "Blue Water"

Judging from Dave's FB clips, The A, B & C openers seem like pure rockin' songs, and I'm willing to bet "Blue Water" is the lone ballad opener (although I could be wrong since we haven't heard the snippit yet).

Thoughts? Opinions?

Specifically, are there any thoughts or opinions about my above post from all you VINYL AFICIONADOS or "old school" record collectors, such as myself?

Yes I was looking at this too the other day, and I think the closers are well planned. I think what it will be for openers is ballad/rocker/ballad/rocker or the other way around for closers. I was just listening to the Pat Garrett/Billy the Kid album buy Bob Dylan and the album sequencing for that was superb, beginning and ending both sides with a slower, dramatic ballad type thing, and building up in between, and I hope this is how the album is going to flow. I loved IYD, but I didn't think the sequencing was as good as TISL. Because, at least for me, an album tells a story, so you have to have an opener, a "topic sentence" or "hook" if you will, and then an ear-catching closer to make you feel like this album told a great story. My all-time favourite album sequences were for Rumours and TITN. To me, the ending of GDW makes the whole album seem mysterious, and Rumour-esque, like there's all this news to tell about this woman. And You and I, though not my favourite song, reminds me of the dawn, emerging from the night, like phantoms, crawling out of the night. So I guess to me, openers and closers are important, but I think this album will be sequenced correctly, if the songs are on point

Thanks for the response, DauphineMarie! So putting it all together, as far as individual side openers and closers, it would appear to be...

Side A - Rocker/Rocker
Side B - Rocker/Ballad
Side C - Rocker/Ballad
Side D - Ballad/Ballad

...Interesting.

How random! I love that song by Jefferson Starship! Jefferson Airplane was over by 1970. I'm a big fan of both eras. There's no one quite like Grace Slick!

Yeah..Grace never hesitated to speak her mind .Not too long ago in an interview when asked about her retirement from music she reiterated her famous quote 'there is no place for old people on a rock and roll stage" and went on to say.." Stevie Nicks is still doing it God bless her!"
