Default One song I'm concerned about - All The Beautiful Worlds

It's great that Stevie is finally finishing/upgrading and releasing some of the songs that we've known and loved as demos. But this song - All The Beautiful Worlds - is one that I fear for! The reason is, while most the songs featured on the new album were rough demos, works in progress etc...most weren't finished/polished to a standard ready for release. Those song have no where to go but up.

Yet, All The Beautiful Worlds was a finished song slated for release; I can't see it getting any better. The production is perfect, as is Stevie's voice at that point in time. While her voice is still strong, it doesn't have the rich nuanced tones and range it used to have. I can't imagine that her new version (vocals/production) can even come close to the original version in it's quality/atmosphere. The re-recorded version will seem substandard. I don't feel that way with any of the other songs. Just this one. Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised when I when I hear the new version. But my faith is faint!

I'm not so worried. This song relies pretty heavily on harmonies and backing vocals, too. After hearing The Dealer, I'm sold on her voice being nuanced enough. If she lets her background singers really carry this song the way they do on the demo, I think it'll turn out just fine.

Thanks for talking me down! I recently just listened to the old version with my headphones and was thinking there was no way she could match it now. I got nervous and thought she was wrong to pick that song to do over. I still think, though it will be good, it will still pale in comparison to the Wild Heart version. She should have released it as a b-side or included it on Enchanted.

Lol, no prob. I think it will be softer now, maybe pitched down a little; but after hearing The Dealer, and really listening to it - I'm confident ATBW will be really, really good. It won't be identical to the demo, but I already like the studio mix of The Dealer more than the demo. I think she absolutely nailed it, and I expect that she may have just made one of the best albums of her career.

The Dealer was one of those songs that moved past the demo stage into a work in progress. I heard some of the new album version, and it sounds like the character of the song was kept intact.

I agree; I think this album will have more traction/impact than her last one, partly because of the intriguing "vault" concept and the fact that these songs have been lingering around among fans for decades. There's a history and story behind them. If the marketing is smart, the reviews are positive, and there are one or two stand out tracks that get lots of airplay - - Stevie will be insufferable to her fellow Fleetwood Mac members!

When Bella Donna came out, she was featured on the cover of Rolling Stone with title 'The Queen of Rock.' If this album hits big, I hope she is on the cover again, with the title 'The Return of the Queen of Rock.'

Haha! She already is "insufferable" to Lindsay. The return? She never left. But I do think this will match her best work in the 70s and 80s

It sounds like it fell right out of that era, but fresh at the same time. After sleeping on it, and listening again in the morning, I like it even more.

It sounds like the way I'd start a cover - put the song down as a track in the recording mix, play along to the track, remove the original song from the mix, start playing with the tempo, then add flourishes. It's a great way to preserve the "feel" of a song.

I am super excited for this record. The next couple months are going to be insufferable to me.

With Lori and Sharon I think this will still be fantastic.

I still have faith in Stevie's studio vocals, I'm loving the vocal on The Dealer - it's one of the very few times I can say I prefer her current voice to her voice in it's prime. I listened to the Tusk demo and then the new track and she did it justice. I think in the studio Stevie will have the confidence to really attack this song like it deserves. Plus, Lori and Sharon still sound great, so, there's that.
