I'm really hoping we get the first single download with the pre-order Tuesday. I know a lot of artists have been doing that lately with their album pre-orders.

I'm sorry, stupid question, but can you pre-order the vinyl on Tuesday too, or is that released separately on 9/29?

I make no apology for wanting what I want. I can wish for an outcome and still thoroughly enjoy the ride. Besides, it's not like I'm going to get angry if I don't get it. I explicitly wanted the experience of hyperventilating over the new Stevie record, lol.

I couldn't agree more, hence the sense of urgency - especially as someone who has been listening to some of these songs for close to 20 years.

Let us have our hysterics, "this time would not come again..."

I hope so, I might be persuaded to drop extra money for a vinyl copy in case I can afford a decent stereo down the road (like, when I'm not living on a grad student stipend, and can once again afford something more high-class than hot dogs wrapped in ramen noodles for dinner, lol).

I don't have the time or the patience to completely put together a top-notch sound system for my vinyl yet, but I like having a physical copy of it, because it's real. To me, a digital download is made of nothing but sound. A physical piece of vinyl, at least to me, has a value unlike any other format. But maybe I'm being overly nostalgic..

I'm hoping it will be some time in the morning...but it wouldn't surprise me if we don't get it till much later in the day.

Vinyl has the actual vibration that make up the music pressed into the record ( listen to a record with the sound off and your ear close to the turntable and you will hear the needle being vibrated by the grooves of the record) while digital is nothing more than binary code...

Well, since we're getting so darn reductive about it, no matter the format it's all essentially just vibrations in the air slamming against your eardrum and being translated into neural signals. But that doesn't sound nearly as exciting, I guess.

I'll be fairly happy with a digital copy, personally. I don't romanticise the physical much but that probably just comes from living in a small place. I do think we're likely to get the deluxe CD for my husband's benefit, though, as the prospect of looking through a 50-page photo-book once and then never again is tempting to him in a way that I can't relate to.

Pressure waves, even.

As a math lover, I can really appreciate digital. It's like calculus, making the step size so small that the difference between a digital sinewave and an analog sinewave is imperceptible to the human ear - eventually maybe even indistinguishable to instrumentation. But I also love vinyl - for the nostalgia, the collectibility, and for the "vinyl sound."
