I had noticed the robotish sound on Everywhere when I first purchased the DVD, but I hadn't thought much of it. But it's so weird because it only occurs on a few words in the song. The overwhelming majority is Christine's lovely voice, and I don't understand why they'd just stick it in here and there, especially since I doubt she was falling that flat on the particular notes. Plus, AutoTune was crazy new - just moving over from its use in geological technology. And since there was so little knowledge of it at the time of recording, I have no idea why MTV chose this time to debut it. And I have to imagine Christine didn't sign off on that being okay.

You're saying they used auto tune for The Dance?

It bothers me too. I mean, so much of the rest of it must be overdubbed and rerecorded anyway so why auto-tune that one song? I've always wondered if Christine didn't do any overdubs so they had to use the (relatively new) autotune.

I wasn't under the impression they used any autotune on the Dance, to me the Everywhere vocals don't sound autotuned.

if you see a lap top or 2,3 or 5 ( depending on the number of vocalist ) it is there for vocal help they all do it , David Lee Roth made it a point to mention that several times when he had a radio show

I basically have the ears of an embryo, so I'm struggling to figure out what you guys are talking about. Is it the high notes in the verses (you know that I'm PROOUUUDD etc)? Now that I'm actively looking for the "autotune sound" that's one place where I think I can detect it, but I can't tell if I'm just deluding myself. I've always thought it sounded fine.

I have thought he same thing about Christine's vocals on that album since the beginning. Auto Tune may have been "new" but at that time there was Pro Tools and they could adjust pitch at that point in History fairly easily. Christine does have a tendency to fall a little flat at times. Listen to bootlegs any time during the Dance and they are never quite as "Perfect" pitch as The Dance. SHe had a LITTLE help.

Really? I do think that album is pretty and glossed over but I don't hear where anybody sounds like a robot.
