I guess that was a low blow. I must be in argument mode today or something. Sorry.

I really hope hope you're right, and that they release the tracklist at the pre-order. I would really like to know what's on it asap, and then be able to enjoy the clips each week in anticipation.

No, that was a legitimate rebuttal- artists who sell more get more attention from their record labels & management. Plain & simple.

It's entirely possible the track listing may not be posted. After all, this is an album comprised solely of old demos that are fan favs. This is an album for the diehards. So what better way to build & retain excitement than to withhold the track listing?

Right. I think the whole Instagram idea is to stretch out the tracklist across several months. I don't even think they'll reveal the song titles at all. I think we'll get snippets of each song, one per week or whatever and that's it. I could be wrong, of course and I hope that I am. Time will tell

That's basically my fear. That and that the first three previews will be of the songs we've already heard from Dave Stewart. So that we're still a couple weeks out from knowing anything more than we already do.
Edit: I'll reiterate that I really hope I'm wrong about that.

I'm thinking they won't release the tracklist either, at least until we have all seen the snippets, but by then we'll have it anyway, lol. Smart PR I think.

How does Stevie expect to sell records when little is being done to build an interest the upcoming release?

Seriously the pre-sale is on Tuesday and all we have gotten are two tweets from Camp Stevie how are they supposed to build interest in the album with 2 tweets...
Stevie has no useful website and the WB site is still promoting the "IYD" DVD...Camp Stevie had better get the ball rolling and take an active roll in promotion because as others have stated 24K will probably receive little radio promotion and WB isn't going to launch a massive ad campaign like they would have 30 years ago so if Stevie want's sell as many records as she can she's going to have to take matters into her own two little chain mail gloved hands and do things her self or have someone do it for her...As we are all painfully aware she needs a NEW website that is updated on a regular basis ALL of the "Stevie" social media sites need to be linked together and they need to have links for the website on them...There should already be previews of a few songs and what the album will look like and what the TRACKLISTING is...In other words they should be promoting 24K BEFORE the pre-sale and building as much interest as they can ahead of time...I worry that only a few posts will be made on the Instagram and then it will be forgotten about...

Yes I realize she will not sell like the younger artists but 24K should get the best promotion it can I don't mean to ramble but I just don't understand what Stevie's people are doing...Are they lazy? Do they not understand using social media for promotion? Or do the just not care...

I think you are so right about this. I really honestly don't think they want to do a huge PR campaign, and even if they do, they are not going about it the right way. As someone who works in PR for a living, I would have done exactly as you said, releasing snippets and photos, and even doing the odd interview here and there. I mean when you think of how well IYD actually did for someone who was 63 years old, this record could be great. But in today's market for music, the really good promotion is kind of lost in the sea of obsessive media mass-marketing. It actually makes me sad that they could do so much more for Stevie and her album, but really this whole project is shrouded in secrecy almost. I guess they're going for the suspense angle, but to the average listener, who they should be targeting (we're all going to buy it no matter what lol) they won't catch on. I don't know, but you are absolutely right.

Unfortunately I don't think WB is going to be heavily promoting this project for reasons already discussed including it's aimed primarily at her fan base. Also because FM is no longer in their stable of artists. The only possible reason I think they might.. is to milk the whole Christine tour angle. Hell, there could be a memo titled, "Stevie Nicks' new album track listing" with all of the new tracks just laying round on some lowly clerk's desk at the WB offices waiting to be forwarded. Maybe it will all come down to that clerk's interest or ability to stay on top of his or her job! LOL

The pre-sale may be next Tuesday, but the album isn't released for three more months. I'm sure there will be plenty of promotion leading up to October 7th. Not Gaga-sized promotion, mind you, but a respectable amount nonetheless.

In the meantime, have fun & enjoy the ride!

I think camp Stevie understands that there are around 100,000 people who will buy her album ,with the deluxe editions and vinyl this will still be more than enough to turn a profit.I doubt there will even be much of a push for a single to get radio airplay this time.I think there will be a single though and it will very likely be The Dealer.

I hope they do try for a radio friendly-single though. I personally love The Dealer, and it could be popular, if done correctly. It just so much depends on the content of the album to decide what the single should be.

Stevie should be taking a page out of her favorite rock & roll band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers book and do what they are doing...They have a website...They have a twitter.. And these are updated regularly...TP has a new album coming out and they have a "Virtual Radio" on the TP website where you can listen to 5 (yes 5 ) songs from the album before it comes out...

As for the "average listeners" who don't don't know about Stevie's demos they should be targeting them by promoting it as just a new album...

How hard would it be to put one of the many people on her payroll in charge of keeping her website /social media updated?

I agree whole heartedly! I mentioned them in the blog I wrote about it for my social media agency. I emailed it to Liz Rosenberg the other day and reached out just throwing it out there that I really think this could be done well and done easily and asking for a conversation. No response so far, not that I thought I'd get one, but I'd rather try than do nothing. I also let them know that their location settings are turned on, so you can track their first Instagram back to the Warner Brothers lot... sigh. Does anyone know a better contact to get in touch with?

Apology accepted....we all have those days! (That's why I won't point out that all five of Miranda's albums have gone platinum, with the latest hitting #1 on both the pop AND country charts....something Stevie hasn't done in a while and/or never done).

There really are a lot of factors involved....label, management, artist. For instance, the new Jackson Browne has been up for pre-order for three weeks, with artwork and track listing posted.....yet he's not coming out until the same day as Stevie!
On the flip side, there was a new double disc Kinks anthology out this week....still no track listing to tell people what's on it!
Finally, Melissa Etheridge has a new one out September 30 ~ first for a new label! ~ and it's still not up yet for pre-order!

For me, it's a no-brainer.....get things like the track listing and artwork up as soon as possible and try to build up as much anticipation and interest as you can!
