FM only from now on? i hope not!

what annoys me the most about them?
never changing setlists. no flexibility, complete setlist conservatism.
talking about the love between them, but there seems to be just business, and a really badly ran one. no new album for 10+ years.

Trent Reznor was explaining recently about why will this year's NIN tour have a very different setup and setlist from the last year's and why he needs that change. how he wants the group as performers on stage to be excited, on the edge, and challenged too. that having the same setlist for too long leads to boredom and laziness. how FM peeps are not bored with practically the same setlist since Rumours first came out is beyond me. and if they are bored, why they don't really change it.

Age Range: 35

Gender: i'm a chick

When you became a fan: 1997

How you became a fan: was writing a letter to a friend & randomly flipped on VH1 airing The Dance. no clue who they were, i pretty much only listened to punk when i was younger.
i think i wrote something like, 'there is some band called fleetwood mac on tv. this "brianna" song is actually pretty cool'

First 3 FM songs: lol- "brianna"/rhiannon & i suppose whatever the next two songs were in the setlist

First FM vocalist: all three

Favorite FM Time Period: pretty much anything m/j/c/l/s. if we're talking sound of the band, then Tusk

Vocalist breakdown by percentage: 18% Stevie, 42% Lindsey, 40% Christine (those L/C harmonies are like crack for the auditory cortex)

Concerts you've attended: the dance, multiple solo shows of lindsey's

FM stuff you own: various vinyls & CDs. i have an Under the Skin shirt... somewhere

Favorite thing about FM: you can take away the vocals & still feel what the song is about. hearing something new in a song you've heard a hundred thousand times.

Least favorite thing about FM: nobody talks about john & john seems the chillest member in the band! *sigh* bass players get no glory

Are you the same fan your where when you started: no

Your all time "dream" lineup that won't ever happen: m/j/c/l/s with crista on lead washboard

You wish for the future of the Mac: contentment
... and that's enough for me

I love this!

Age: 34

Gender: chick

When you became a fan: 1987 - when Tango came out

How you became a fan: I was 7. And I kept hearing on the radio/seeing on MTV: Little Lies, Everywhere, and Seven Wonders, and those songs changed my life. My mom finally let me buy the Tango cassette after I knew I loved at least those 3 songs from the album (to make the purchase worthwhile)... It was my prized possession.

First 3 FM songs: Little Lies, Everywhere, Seven Wonders

First FM vocalist: Stevie/Christine (I can't remember which of those three songs I literally heard first - I remember loving them all at the same time). (I do remember thinking Lindsey was a female for awhile because of his higher voice and his name! HAHA! Family Man totally confused me - I thought he was a she in my 7 year old brain)

Favorite FM Time Period: '75 through Tusk, Mirage/TITN (all of these! I totally obsessed over the rest of the Rumours lineup albums while I was in college to add to my Tango love)

Vocalist breakdown by percentage: 35% Stevie, 35% Lindsey, 30% Christine

Concerts you've attended: 0! This tour is on my bucket list, especially now that Christine is back.

FM stuff you own: My prized Tango casette; most Rumours lineup albums on CD, all Rumours lineup albums on vinyl, some pre-Rumours on vinyl... (none of the greatest hits or The Dance - I never got into The Dance for some reason!); Carol Ann Harris' book Storms, Mick Fleetwood's book

Favorite thing about FM: Catchy, amazing music with incredible harmonizing vocals by talented and interesting musicians, and the most fascinating dramatic personal stories to supplement the music that you could ever ask for. Not to mention a boatload of wonderful nostalgia from my childhood that is priceless and hard to replicate.

Least favorite thing about FM: I've never seen them live... but as a huge live music fan, the inflexible setlists is disappointing. I love when artists mix it up each night.

Are you the same fan your where when you started: No- I was a 7 year old girl discovering the magical world of music in 1987. My perspective is so different now after learning so much more about their personal stories connected to the music... makes me connect to the music in more mature ways, etc... plus life and experiences grant perspective

Your all time "dream" lineup that won't ever happen: the current lineup!

You wish for the future of the Mac: If they haven't already, I hope they all find personal peace and happiness for the rest of their lives.

Age: 50

Gender: female

When you became a fan: 1977-Rumours was my first album at 13 yrs old.

How you became a fan: Rumours was all over the airwaves. I spent my summers at the lake as a kid. During the summer of 1978, we would put it on the stereo in the cottage, aim the speakers out the screen windows, and then dance in the hot sun on the dock, on the rocks, in the water and in the boat. Heaven....sigh.

First 3 FM songs: Go Your Own Way, Storms, Peacekeeper

First FM vocalist: All 3, with a leaning towards Lindsey/Stevie

Favorite FM Time Period: classic line up, although I enjoy the whole thing.

Vocalist breakdown by percentage: 1/3 each

Concerts you've attended: 4 of FM, 1 of Stevie solo, and 1 of Lindsey solo (his was amazing!!)

FM stuff you own:
Fleetwood Mac-white album
Rumours
Tango
Mirage
Behind the Mask
Say You Will
The Dance (video and CD)
Live in Boston DVD
Making Rumours Classic Albums DVD
Destiny Rules DVD
Stevie-Soundstage DVD
Lindsey-Sounstage DVD
Lindsey-Live at Bassey DVD
Stevie's commentating on videos for all the videos that she did this for.
Buckingham Nicks-on CD that a fellow I met in South Africa last month burned for me from his recently rec'd vinyl copy from a friend in Poland (so good)
Lindsey and Stevie's collection of solo albums.
Lindsey Buckingham guitar pick (yes, he had them at his concert. It has a LB insignia on one side and a picture of a pick with a red circle and line through it on the other!!)
Brett Tuggle guitar pick
Neil Hayward guitar pick
Carol Ann Harris' book Storms
Mick Fleetwood's book (signed from our meet and greet)
Mick Fleetwood signed drum sticks from the meet and greet-my husbands drum sticks, not Mick's
ALL my concert stubs
Lindsey's set list from his Seeds We Sow Tour and from the last Fleetwood Mac tour.
Stevie's set list from her solo tour, In Your Dreams
T-shirt from the last tour with Go Your Own Way on it
black sweatshirt from the last tour
Stevie T-shirt from the In Your Dreams Tour
Lindsey T-shirt from the Seeds We Sow Tour
Ken Callait's book with the email from him answering a question I asked him (and he responded in about 20 mins.);
other misc. books.

Favorite thing about FM: romantic love stories, and the fact that all the music represents different times in my life and reminds me of those times.

Least favorite thing about FM: that Stevie and Lindsey don't get back together, at least that i can see.

Are you the same fan your where when you started: Essentially yes, I love them for all the same reasons I did initially, just added on lot's more reasons since being an adult.

Your all time "dream" lineup that won't ever happen: it will now!!

You wish for the future of the Mac: That they live to be 150 years old.

I don't think that's an unreasonable wish. With Chris coming back, everyone will be inspired again and the set list will be different and more like the classic Fleetwood Mac that most fans grew up with.

Age Range: 40 very soon

Gender: male

When you became a fan: 1987

How you became a fan: Listening to Tango In The Night over and over again in my parents' car. I secretly started listening to the vinyl copy whenever my parents went out- 10 times a day (whilst studying the picture on the back cover and trying to work out who is who). Then started collecting cassettes of each album one by one.

First 3 FM songs: All TITN

First FM vocalist: Christine, Stevie, Lindsey

Favorite FM Time Period: '75 through Tusk, Mirage/TITN, (Welch/Christine second)

Vocalist breakdown by percentage: example...40% Christine, 30% Lindsey, 30% Stevie

Concerts you've attended: 03, 09, 13

FM stuff you own: Just about everything available on CD;
including 'Studio 99 Perform Fleetwood Mac'
excluding a couple of the many blues era compilations

Favorite thing about FM: The sheer variety. The overall feel of the music.

Least favorite thing about FM: They ruined my youth; Everyone else my age moved through the likes of The Smiths, The Stone Roses, Britpop, Grunge, Drum & Bass etc but there I was throughout my formative years trying to convince my peers of the merits of Honey Hi. It wasn't cool being a FM fan back then.

Are you the same fan your where when you started: In some ways yes.

Your all time "dream" lineup that won't ever happen: Mick, John, Christine, Peter, Jeremy, Lindsey, Rick live at Glastonbury (sorry Billy).

You wish for the future of the Mac: Tour. New album Vol 1. Tour. New album Vol 2. Glastonbury festival. New comprehensive box set. New album. Grammy. End safe and well on a high.

I will post my profile later but I just had to say that after skimming through a few of the pages of this thread, I was absolutely fascinated by the idea that many of the people who post here did not grow up hearing their songs on the radio. I knew people here were in their 20's and 30's, but somehow I didn't make the connection. That idea just fascinates me but I'm so glad that you young ins who came to FM in so many different ways made it here Awesome.

Age Range: 18-25

When you became a fan: A few years ago.

How you became a fan: My mum and dad listened to Fleetwood Mac a lot when I was growing up but it wasn't until a few years ago that I became a big fan.

First 3 FM songs: Sara, Isn't It Midnight, Illume

First FM vocalist: Stevie Nicks

Favorite FM Time Period: '75 through Tusk

Vocalist breakdown by percentage: 60% Stevie, 20% Christine, 20% Lindsey

Concerts you've attended: Say You Will, Unleashed

FM stuff you own: Albums, a few singles, t-shirts, posters

Favorite thing about FM: Unique sound and style

Least favorite thing about FM: They focus far too much on Rumours

Are you the same fan your where when you started: I still like them just as much

Your all time "dream" lineup that won't ever happen: Mick, John, Lindsey, Christine, Stevie and Bob Welch.

You wish for the future of the Mac: Another great, stellar album

This is a cool thread!

Age Range: Thirty... (cough, cough)

Gender: Male

When you became a fan: I guess I've been a fan all my life. I can't remember a time when there WASN'T a Fleetwood Mac song being played somewhere that I didn't enjoy.

How you became a fan: Fell in love with Stevie's voice at 4 years old listening to "Whenever I Call You Friend" and just wanted to know everything about her solo projects and with Fleetwood Mac. I think "Say You Love Me" was the first jam I got into from FM that made me a fan of the band alone.

First 3 FM songs: Rhiannon, Say You Love Me, Gypsy

First FM vocalist: The vocalists from the Rumours era. Don't make me pick one. That would be too hard.

Favorite FM Time Period: '75 through '82

Vocalist breakdown by percentage: I don't like this question. I like all three of them for very different reasons. I can't honestly say that, within the band, I like one more than the other.

Concerts you've attended: Say You Will, Unleashed

FM stuff you own: I could type paragraphs but I'll spare everyone.

Favorite thing about FM: Three very different sounds, styles, and personas that seem to work extremely well together when mixed. Oh yeah, and the DRAMA...

Least favorite thing about FM: The lack of output from the last 20 years.

Are you the same fan your where when you started: No. I'm probably less of a fan now. Still love them, though...but see my answer to the previous question.

Your all time "dream" lineup that won't ever happen: Mick, John, Lindsey, Christine, Stevie, Peter Green, and Danny Kirwan. (sigh)

You wish for the future of the Mac: I don't care how many more studio albums are released, just make them GREAT! Also...ticket prices. Are you kidding me? Your CORE fans aren't rich, you guys!!!

Age Range: almost 30

Gender: male

When you became a fan: 1997

How you became a fan: listening to "I Can't Wait" off of Dad's Stevie Nicks greatest hits, he told me I should check out FM if I liked the tape

First 3 FM songs: Rhiannon, Second Hand News, Go Your Own Way (first three I remember getting into); Second Hand News, Go Your Own Way, Silver Springs (favorite three)

First FM vocalist: Stevie Nicks brought me to the band. I'm a huge Lindsey fan now.

Favorite FM Time Period: Fleetwood Mac through Tango in the Night

Vocalist breakdown by percentage: 60% Lindsey, 25% Stevie, 15% Christine (love them all, though)

Concerts you've attended: '03, '13

FM stuff you own: All of the albums in one format or another, concert T-shirt from the '13 tour, The Dance, Tango in the Night and Live in Boston DVDs

Favorite thing about FM: Unique sound & Lindsey's guitar playing

Least favorite thing about FM: A consistent lack of new music

Are you the same fan your where when you started: Pretty much, although I favor Lindsey now much more than previously, as I came to the band mainly due to Stevie

Your all time "dream" lineup that won't ever happen: The lineup going on tour this fall

You wish for the future of the Mac: At least one more album and a tour that I could actually afford to go see

There should be a poll! Haha! That would be way more interesting then some of the others. Someone get that done

Age Range: Forty something

Gender: Male

When you became a fan: 1976

How you became a fan: Hearing them on the radio and my older sister's albums

First 3 FM songs: Over My Head, Rhiannon, Say You Love Me

Age: 27

Gender: A fu**ing stud! A gay one living in very much a straight mans world (military, body building)

When I became a fan: 1997/1998

How: family trips. I remember Christine saying in 1997 interview that it would be great if young kids picked up on parents music. My mom said, boy that's happening! Haha. I love classic rock and the Mac women more then equal the men they are vastly out numbered by.

1st 3 Mac songs: from the dance, Rhiannon, say you love me, silver springs. But the whole cd really. Then came the DVD and I was hooked.

1st vocalist: Stevie. 2nd: Christine

Vocal %: 50% Stevie, 30% Christine, 10% Lindsey (but he should get bonus points from great co production until 1987. I think he has run out of steam now) 10% the rest of the past members that I have recently branched out into.

Stuff I own: all CDs officially released by the Mac from the time Christine joined to SYW. All of Stevie cd, DVDs. 2 Christine cd, a few bootleg DVD and cd. Concert shirts. I really need to check out Lindsey's early solo work. One of these days I will.

Concerts I've seen: 10 Stevie solo, 5 Mac shows. All starting with the Enchanted tour

Favorite thing: the music and the diversity of it. I love groups with multiple singer song writers. Stevie's stage presence and persona. She is sultry, keeps you watching her even though her eyes never look at the camera. but I must agree with that old expression about how the parts don't equal the whole thing together.

Least favorite: Stevie bashing! Come on now, the rest of them would have long retired if it wasn't for her keeping the machine going. Luckily she is smart and kept both careers going to her advantage. So you can eat her **ssy. I'm probably the Stevie fan a few of you hate! Haha

Still the same fan: pretty much

Dream line up: the one that's about to happen! Welcome back Christine! You were missed!
Wish for their future: they keep rocking till they die, at 150 years old.
