Look at Stevie's leg propped up on the console. Still limber. Must be the ballet.

It's quite exciting that they're at the mixing stage. If only Dave would tweet a track-listing for the album. I'm desperate to know if certain songs have been recorded.

Is mixing the last stage?

I believe mastering is the last stage... mixing is the second to last step.

Stupid question but what exactly is mastering?

mixing is the last step the artist is (or can be) part of. once it goes off to be mastered, it's locked down as is. It is, very simplistically speaking, deciding which of the zillion tracks to each song get more prominent and others less prominent (e.g., you can hear more or less of the bass, the drums, the backing vocals whatever).
If you watched the Destiny Rules documentary, this is the part where they worked with Mark Needham (and briefly Chris Lord-Alge) and spent all those hours smoking pot-- I mean listening to mixes in the studio. Last edited by bombaysaffires; 06-10-2014 at 09:27 PM.. |

I don't really like Dave Stewart... He was great with Eurythmics... But IYD was... a little too polished for my taste.
However, I will thank him for being a steady source of Stevie Nicks related news ![]() and perhaps providing the impetus for Stevie to record again.

So, people will get that. Then, they're always going to be great to you. Then, they listen to you; they listen to your songs. They give you a chance. Otherwise, you get nowhere." |

I don't understand the fans who find a problem with the album, which I think is one of her most solid works. There are strengths and weaknesses in most of her albums, but I've learned to love all of them. They are familiar; like comfort food.
