I'm watching Julia on Netflix now. There are so many references to this movie in Stevie's songs! Not only are the main characters Julia & Lily, but Lily stays in the Imperial Hotel. Not to mention the line "I see a handsome soldier." The songs Julia, Rock A Little, Battle Of The Dragon, and Imperial Hotel are all drawn from this movie. Probably Doing The Best I Can, too. I'm sure others I'm not picking up on.

I've had the book Triad for a decade. Now I just need to watch Wide Sargasso Sea. I love seeing the inspirations to songs I've been listening to for decades. It adds another layer .

I read "Triad" on my 5 hour flight from Nashville to Vegas back in '05 when we went to see Stevie's Caesar's Palace shows. It's an okay book. It keeps your interest all the way through but it is by no means a masterpiece. More of a "mystery trash novel".

Stevie's demo "Impossible Task" has a lot of references to the movie "Julia" as well. The vocal on that demo is definitely not the best, but lyrically and melodically, it's pretty cool and has a lot of potential.

She did not officially tour with them.

The opportunity to be on stage with Bob Dylan via her friend Tom Petty was too much for her to pass up. She wasn't invited; she just showed up unannounced.

After performing a few shows with them, authorities stepped in . She didn't have a work visa, so her appearances on stage were a violation of a law. I believe she left soon after the incident. It was reported in the news. It's possible she might have been fined for it.

A lot of those OLD songs are GOOD because they were works in progress long before she put them on the reels to be considered for demos for Bella Donna. Gypsy, one of her greatest songs, went through MANY iterations before it was left off Bella Donna and then picked up again for Mirage.

Stevie of these days thinks "You wouldn't say that to Bob Dylan". Blah. Woman... listen... you need you take creative criticism! Stevie's best work has always been filtered, condensed, or polished by others, WITH her input. She needs to remember that and let the creative juices flow, and then keep working on it till it is fully cooked. LIke a Ham. which she can be sometimes as well!

Dave's tweet sounds promising...With any luck the Sept/Oct release date will happen...

David Wild...Rolling Stone & Huff Post writer has started tweeting about the project...Hopefully he will interview Stevie soon.

David also wrote the "Fan's Notes" forward for "Crystal Visions"

Sounds exciting. I just love how all of this happened so quickly. Granted, she didn't really have to write anything new, but I'm thrilled that we're getting new Stevie music soon.

As for release date, I imagine that it will have to be October, especially if they want it out for the holidays and if they want to give it enough time in the marketplace before a new Mac album next fall. She'll do a lot of phone interviews while on the road with the Mac, or she'll just do a week's worth of advance interviews, press, etc. in August/September in anticipation of the release.

Could we hear a first "single" in August?

Stevie, Dave, and Waddy working with Ann Marie Calhoun, at Stevie's house. Does anyone recognize the guy in the foreground?

Al Ortiz, perhaps? That looks like the back of his head. He's been Stevie's touring bass player for many years now and helped her out on A LOT of TISL demos.

Good call! Although I must confess, I'm not that familiar with the back of his head.

He's the sound engineer. I forget if he's Scott (Campbell) or Mark (Linett)?!? He was a sound engineer for "In Your Dreams" and was in the documentary
featured prominently during the debate/playback of the guitar solo during the "Everybody Loves You" segment & throughout other song segments. Also, he is in the video for "Moonlight" in the background, in a top hat, and one quick cut-away close-up.

I bet you're right. It probably is Scott. I was just on Al Ortiz's Facebook page and his hair is now shoulder length and he's lost a bunch of weight. Definitely not Al like I originally thought.

Great pics! Stevie's house is gorgeous! Very happy to see this project coming along so quickly.

Might I also add that it's times like this when I wish I had Rick Deckard's (from the film "Blade Runner") technology to be able to zoom into these pictures and read what it says on the music and cue sheets. Hahaha!
