Which songs would you like to see Stevie save for the new Fleetwood Mac record, vs. including them on her new solo disc?
I know she's always wanted to do "What Has Rock & Roll Ever Done For You" with Fleetwood Mac. I've also always thought Christine and Lindsey could add some great harmonies to "At The Fair." |

My favorite version of If You Were My Love has always been from the Mirage sessions.

I'd honestly rather Stevie bring all new material to the Mac, and keep her back catalogue to her solo career.
The one song I can think of that I'd happily make an exception for would be If You Were My Love. To me, that song always had such a classic Mac potential.

Given that Stevie's solo album will consist entirely of demos, I'm increasingly confident that her FM contributions will consist of new material. |

I must be the only one concerned about Stevie submitting new compositions (if there are any) to the upcoming Mac album. I would much prefer that she contribute some of the vault demos since there would be a greater possibility of them actually being half decent to possibly brilliant.
Stevie recently spoke about finding a certain number of these demos on Youtube and then eventually whittling them down to the 18 that have recently been recorded with Dave. If all 18 make her solo album (and that’s questionable), then I think she should take advantage of the other demos that didn’t make the cut. There’s no reason to believe those that missed out might be inferior as at the end of the day, it all comes down to personal taste. For example, in another thread (in the Stevie Forum), it’s been speculated that both “24 Karat Gold” and “Gypsy Beggar” will be on the solo album, which has excited some fans, but I’m not keen on either of them. If these two tracks are to take the place of other vault demos I prefer, I’d rather those that missed out be used elsewhere (ie with Fleetwood Mac). I think the likes of "The Dealer", "Sanctuary" and "If You Were My Love" would all be highly suitable for Fleetwood Mac and that's just skimming the surface. |

Quite possibly Mike, but that's the point - which demos are of worth is entirely subjective and will alter from one person to the next. I have a list in my head of what I'd like to be recorded, but it's possible that none of those will make Stevie's solo album - maybe some will, but others won't - and I'm sure some people will feel the same way (in regard to what made the final cut and what didn't).
I don't have a lot of faith in Stevie's song-writing these days and so I'd rather take my chances on what was written during (what I consider to be) her peak period from the early 1970's up until the early 1980's. (Of course, I realise that songs from outside this period may be included on Stevie's upcoming album, but I would think that for the most part, it will focus on her purple patch.) Of course, I'm more than willing to be proven wrong if Stevie does produce some new work that dazzles me, but I sense the likelihood of this occurring diminishes with each passing year. I still hold out hope for greatness, but mostly prepare for disappointment. |
