It's atmospheric and very dark. A lot if Stevie Nicks fans love atmosphere.

There's not a lot of love on here for "One More Tomorrow", huh? I want some upbeat tracks included.

I am so happy that Stevie is recording these demos and I hope there's a deluxe version available with extra songs.

Well, she had no heart, but he was the one she sang to. That's got to mean something.

Default "..but the minute that you let it out.. you can leave it all behind.."

"..like a voice in the wilderness... crying.. is there anybody? there must be somebody there.."

Love Don't Fail Me Now. As I listen to my copy of this beautiful track, I can only think how wonderful it will sound without the slow fade in and out start and the hissing throughout.. all I can say is what a wonderful time to be a Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks fan. First, Christine McVie has rejoined the band, which I never thought would happen, and Stevie is giving her fans her demos.. aged and how she wanted to share them with us. Yes, I love many of the demos, but I am so excited about how she is going to wrap them up in her velvet and share them with us.. remember, she hasn't shared them with us.. someone else did. I'm not worried about the new album.. my thoughts are if I don't like them as much as the demo version - well, I have the demo version to listen to.. but I think this record is going to rock! "they were afraid of her.. she had no heart.." "what will you do when the feeling is gone.. where have you gone.. so far from me.." "blue water.. I sit and I wait for the morning to come.." "so in your laughter.. you do scream.." "I don't ever want to know about new people in your life.." "my soul has soared, I have reached great heights, but the ground is further than I thought.." "gone like the wind.. like the stars in the dust.. well, her little toy soldier is covered with rust.." "for in my house.. no teasing spirit.. no false laughter..." "you never loved the softness in my soul.. and yet you stayed with me so very long.. "..charmed ones remain.. well, I already lost one guiding light.." "here comes the cold chill... in the rain she laid face down.. what kind of freedom.. what kind of game.. my dreams... my 24 karat gold.." 24 Karat Gold.. thank you, Stevie. "the poet in my heart.."

Wow nice post..it reminded me again of how rich lyrically so many of these songs are..If Stevie ,Dave and Waddy can frame them in a way that does these works justice I will never ask for anything in the way of recorded music again.

Beautiful post Keith! The way she writes her songs just draw you in and grab hold of you, that's how I've always felt about her lyrics.

If a Dave Stewart produced version of "Watch Devil" doesn't make it on the new album, I will be inconsolable. It is the most groovy, playful and soulful number that Stevie has ever written. The beat and bass line remind me of "Tell Me Something Good" by Rufus and Chaka Khan.

Yes, yes YES!!! I think they could really take this song to places that the demo never could, both sonically R&B and harmony-wise. That bass line is what MAKES the demo for me. Well, that plus the lyrics, "...touching fingers thru the kitchen lace..."

Keith, you are awesome!!! Yes, these lyrics remind us that Stevie is first and foremost a poet! I'm happy that the world (those weird non-Stevie fans) will hopefully get to hear some of these exquisite lines for the first time.

Some of my faves - and I am sure there are some on here others loathe:

City of Hope
At The Fair
China Doll
Old-Fashioned (The Dance)
Sanctuary
She Loves Him Still
Something Exquisite
Love and War (Mix Down)
Love Don't Fail Me Now
Starshine
Tied Up in Promises
The Tragedy of One's Own Soul
Watchdevil
Prettiest Girl in the World
Space Needle

And also...
Castaway
Cathouse Blues
Cecelia
Christian (Spinning Wheels)
The Dealer
All These Years
If You Were My Love
Julia

OK.... perhaps that list was a bit long... and there are others I could have included. I love so many of her demos!
I really like Prettiest Girl In the World. I could see her doing that now. Space Needle just needs to be a bit shorter, because it goes on and on, like TISL. I love both, just not for six minutes.

China Doll gets some hate, but I think it's pretty. It could be updated easily.

What about the rumoured demos that were discovered around 1997(ish)?Are these even real songs? We had a post here about them years ago, and I can't remember if someone found alternate titles for them on copyright.gov.
Carousel
Dark Angel
Desert Skies
Dolphins and Stars
Heartbreaker
Helen
For John
Out on the Road (says it's from Tusk)
The River
Rumors
So Far
Thunder
Butterflies (pls n0)

They probably won't be on there if they're not on youtube, but if she's serious about this vault title...

I think ALL THE BEAUTIFUL WORLDS was a shoe in on The WILD HEART, kicked to the curb at the last minute. Maybe once she recorded "Stand Back" (one of the last songs to be recorded for the record.) And though we all have a pretty good master copy circulating, this song, to me, seemed like it ALWAYS needed an official presentation and release. It's just too good, and has maybe the most catchy chorus Stevie has perhaps accidently written. I've loved this song unconditionally from the very first listen, and always scratched my head at why it was never released (even as a B-Side).

Here are my favorite demos/outtakes that I'd love to see recorded & released officially:

ALL THE BEAUTIFUL WORLDS
AT THE FAIR - This song could be amazing with Stewarts finishing touch. This song is so dark & twisted. You can feel the protagonists tortured soul, feeling trapped, (relationship) like a recurring nightmare set starkly against supposedly happier times spent "At the Fair." If they keep the synth & menacing mid-tempo dark vibe, which recalls some early Eurythmics material, and added modern flourishes. This could finally be perfected. I've always loved this song. It's a romantic story gone creepy and regretfully bad!

FOREST OF THE BLACK ROSES
MAKER OF BIRDS
YOU WONT FORGET ME (TELEPHONE)
BELLE FLEUR
CHANEL CHANEL
SOMETHING EXQUISITE
SHE LOVES HIM STILL
24 KARAT GOLD
IF YOU WERE MY LOVE
JULIA
FORSAKEN LOVE
I CALL YOU MISSING
YOU LIKE ME
THE CHARMED ONES (CITY OF HOPE)

I tried to select @16 songs that more or less would be a good mix of slower ballads ("Maker of Birds", "Forest of the Black Roses", "She Loves Him Still"", Forsaken Love") to mid-tempo fare: (ATBW, ATF, "Julia", "Chanel, Chanel", "Something Exquisite" ,"24 Karat Gold" and a mix of some rockers like "You Wont Forget Me", "I Call You Missing" & "You Like Me".

I'd also love the following compositions (below) recorded, but I'd rather have the "Rhiannon" songs properly completed & released along with "Charmed Ones" & the drop dead gorgeous "She Loves Him Still", and only see so many selections for ballads making the cut
JOAN OF ARC
SPACE NEEDLE
HAVE NO HEART

Other notable choices:
ALL THE KINGS HORSES
CHRISTIAN
ALL THESE YEARS
SANCTUARY
THE DEALER
WATCH DEVIL
CATHOUSE BLUES
CECILIA
CHINA DOLL
IMPOSSIBLE TASK
PRETTIEST GIRL IN THE WORLD

I really hope she stays away from the likes of "One More Tomorrow" , "What Has Rock N Roll Has Done For You" & "Dial The Number". And though I like "Blue Water", it's never resonated with me as much as it appears to have with other fans. It's pretty, but a little repetitive. But I guess it is sorta meditative in it's repetitiveness. Ultimately, I think if we all get about 4-5 songs from our personal wish-list, we'll all be somewhat satisfied with the record. I'm hoping Stevie pulls out a unheard, surprise "vault song" from her heyday (like "The Chain") that will blow everybody away.

"For John" has a copyright date of 12/22/1980, and "Thunder" is dated 08/31/1976 (with a renewal on 01/02/2004).

"So Far" is on BMI's site, but not the US Copyright site, so there's no date for that one. It definitely exists though.

I've never seen songs with any of those other titles on either site. At least not written by Stevie.

Oh, and "Out On The Road" is an early version of "That's Enough For Me," and is on disc 2 of the 'Tusk' remaster.

While we're discussing the US Copyright site, there's a document for "And the days go by & 44 other titles," dated 02/26/1987.
A few of the titles in the list are songs we've never heard, and some are obviously alternate names for known songs.

And the days go by
Arabesque
Baby doll
Blue water
Bubbles and balloons
Can never be sold
Candlebright
Can't buy
Castaway
Cathouse blues
Cecilia.
China doll
Dreamer
Dreamers lose, others win
Finders keepers
For John
Found another love
Gemini amber
The Glass blower
Goldfish and ladybug
Grandfather's song
I was too young
If you were my love
King and queen here
Lady
Lady from the mountains
Mistaken love
No light
Planets of the universe
The Race has run
Sanctuary
Secret love
Sing for the things money can't buy
Smile at you
Spinning wheels
Standing still
Starshine
Taken my time
24 carat gold
Waltzing through stardom
Watch chain
Water witch
When shall we love
Without you
You never promised me a rose garden

Just remembered the lovely piano demo, Knocking On Doors. I like this one, but couldn't find it on YouTube.

Come lately I just keep waiting
I see nothing out there
The sun keeps throwing the light from the clouds
But there's no light in here
I know that things have to change
But how to change them isn't clear
I'm tired of knocking on doors when there's nobody there
I'm tired of knocking on doors when there's nobody there

And the time keeps going on by
And I wonder what is to become of me?
And I'm unsure
I can't see my way
And he says "Lady, you don't have to see."

And the time keeps going on by
And I wonder what is to become of me?
And I'm unsure
I can't see my way
He says "Lady, you don't have to see."
And he says "Lady, you don't have to see."

Great song! I forget about that one sometimes, but I've always liked it.

Meanwhile, your timing is terrific. I was just wondering what song "Lady" might be on that copyright list ("Lady" and "Lady From The Mountains" are separate entries). After reading your post, I'm thinking now that "Lady" is quite possibly "Knocking On Doors."
