Stevie Recording A New Album With Dave Stewart Producing In Nashville...

I'd absolutely love if Stevie re-recorded "Julia" for this album. I love the flavor her latter-day voice adds to these old songs. I do still hope, however, that the 'Bella Donna' era outtake of "Julia" someday finds a home on a remastered edition.

This is very exciting news all around. I'm so thrilled! Years ago when my ex and I would "talk Stevie," I had a wishlist of things I had hoped she'd do over the next several years. I wanted a new album, a live DVD, a collection of her "vaulted" songs, and a DVD of her videos. They came in a different order, and slower than I might have hoped, but how cool that every one of them will ultimately have been checked off.

They did 17 songs in 12 days or whatever it was ? (I'm too lazy to go back and verify how long they were in the studio in Nashville). Hmm…..

I wonder if she will tweak any of the old songs the way she did with Lady from the Mountain/ Moonlight. Not sure how I feel about that…though some of them were incomplete….

I just pray this isn't one of those "be careful what you wish for…" events

Recording these demos is wonderful news to my ears. Wouldn't it be great if she included a companion CD with the same songs in their demo form?

Here is Dave's tweet...notice he said "Classic Stevie Nicks" which makes more sense now...They were in Nashville for about 2 weeks...

I'm curious to see how may songs were actually cut. In the AP interview, Stevie suggested that they recorded 17 out of the 18 songs they brought to Nashville. But in her acceptance speech, she noted that they recorded all 18 songs.

I just don't think Dave, no matter how good, can work out arrangements for that many songs that fast. Leads me to think that Stevie and crew had culled the songs earlier, and given them to Dave-- or just the links to youtube!-- and he had time to listen to them, come up with ideas, maybe even rough out (or more) some/all of the arrangements and get some basic music tracks down (drums/piano/guitar) and then got Stevie in to do vocals during those two weeks.

Fourteen days (give or take) to work out from the ground up 18 songs is just too much..

Once her vocal stuff is done, he can keep fiddling with the tracks, adding layers.

In any event, we are getting potentially lots of new Stevie music, so however they made it work is good

Stevie has the memory of a Goldfish sometimes. And she embellishes A LOT! I'm going with Dave Stewart's tweet and say that they probably really recorded just 15 songs.
