Jimmy Iovine demonstrates that he's a winner, that all the naysayers are wrong. He went on "American Idol" with those godforsaken Beats headphones around his neck and he willed them to be successful. Now that he's unloaded Beats Music, rumor has it that Iovine will be shepherding a return to rock movement, saying it's all about being able to play your instrument and that hip-hop is dead. He will reunite Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty for another duet, maybe around the time of the Apple/Beats launch, Jimmy has always known it's about marketing.

Could this be??? Another Stevie Nicks/Tom Petty duet on her new record...Dave said the new recordings were "Classic Stevie Nicks"

I agree with you here but I was talking about The White Album and Rumours in particular. The ones you mentioned I feel were TOTALLY overproduced and her voice was altered beyond the usual recognition.She was so wasted during that time she couldn't have made a decent decision about her career to save her life IMO.

I am excited to see Stevie working on new music. With three songwriters in the band and Fleetwood Mac actively recording, it is a wise idea to record a solo record, then join the band for their new record.

I just read a really fascinating article on Buzzfeed about Beats being bought by Apple. Basically it stated Apple was buying Beats simply for Jimmy Iovine. That Jimmy has somewhat of a midas touch, and that he's been transitioning away from being involved with recording artists in favor of entrepreneurship for years. The article was comparing Iovine to Steve Jobs, and how both Iovine & Jobs are the polar opposite of Apple's current CEO, Tim Cook. Cook is comparatively conservative, quiet, and risk-averse. There was talk of Apple's perceived stagnation since Jobs' death, and how Iovine could bring the currently missing showmanship and risk-taking back to Apple.

So the moral of the story is, I don't think Apple buying Beats by Dre really has anything to do with a rock renaissance or the perceived death of Hip Hop. However, I think it has everything to do with bringing on someone visionary & brash into Apple. The article stated Iovine predicted the downfall of downloaded music (a la iTunes) years ago in favor of streaming content (Spotify, Pandora, iTunes radio, etc). With the recent news that Apple is missing it's targets in iPad sales & lack of innovation in their new iPhones, I think they're just looking to hire someone who can see a bit further down the road in regards to shifting consumer tastes & demands. And that's always been Jimmy's strong suit, and that's where he fits into this equation.

If she commits to the material like she did on Soldier's Angel, I will be very happy. That was a great vocal.

I think it is all about conviction. I remember listening to Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind and thinking that she was not committed to giving that song a good vocal at all. She didn't believe in that song even though it was a single. Strange but maybe she was mad at the record company.

She believed in Soldier's Angel and put forth her best. I'm not really a fan of the lyrics - the four years later part really bugs me, however, I love her vocal.

I want committed vocals and some passion.
