However there really isn't any reason she would be in Nashville UNLESS she was putting a vocal track on her songs, so I'm willing to bet they've done a little of both so far. Dave works fast, as we all know, and I'm sure he's been inspiring her. Last edited by sorcerer999; 05-03-2014 at 03:57 PM.. |

I LOVE that they have Rhiannon on the mixing desk. I wonder if Stevie has finally chosen to release one of her "Rhiannon Songs"?

I agree 100%....Dave Stewart should not be producing this next cd. She might as well be taking musical direction from her assistant Karen. IYD had a handful of old demos remastered and remixed which were cool, but the new stuff was pure Stewart crap. The guy is a darkness that hovers over her....she needs to clean house and surround herself with some new people.....maybe she should consider working with the crew from Lady Antebellum. ....anyone but that Stewart clown. You guys keep applauding her as she goes down in flames. I love people who defend an empty space. She hasn't gone triple platinum in how long? Keep defending her poor choices...go on, defend it....I love who Stevie used to be...not who she has become. I blame Karen. ![]()

With Street Angel Stevie was already cinders. She has slowly risen like a Phoenix, each project a little better than the last. 1. TISL was better than Street Angel. 2. Say You Will was better than TISL 3. IYD was better than Say You Will If her work keeps following the trend, then this album should be excellent |

I'm sorry that you don't enjoy IYD, I really am, but your in a small minority of not liking the Stewart/Stevie callaborations. Hell, even people I consider to have some of the most critical ears love IYD (Louie and Chili for just 2 examples). So yea, the general concensous is not that of flames. And if even alf of this new album is good to great Stewart deserves a noble prize forgetting it made so quickly.

lol No way.
Say You Will was great compared to IYD. Completely uninspired lyrically or sonically. I tweeted Dave Stewart once reprimanding him for ruining Stevie Nicks and her album. He tweeted something back equally catty - but it makes me feel good to know he's aware there are people out there unhappy with his work with her. I'm also disappointed she chose to work with him again - even after she went on and on about how much she loved the process. I know people might not agree, but I WISH she would work with some younger artists and producers. I saw someone suggest she should work with Lady Antebellum which would be a good choice. A part of me wishes she would go rogue and do a dance song or two like she used to. There's a band called "Empire of the Sun" that lists 1977 Fleetwood Mac as a direct reference and inspiration on their work. Imagine Stevie vocals and lyrics on THIS instrumental. It would be a total shock but reinvigorate her career a little - like a modern "Stand Back". It has a very Stevie/FM feel but it's still crazy modern and current. I know she could pull it off: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHkyFdsYw7M Last edited by pauls90; 05-03-2014 at 06:50 PM.. |

I think sadly that because Stevie has tended not to have a clear final vision of what her songs should sound like she has been at the mercy of producers who turned her music into what *they* thought it should be. Listening to demos vs final versions it seems like Tom Petty was one of the best at translating her songs pretty closely from her demos. And honestly, I don't know if left to her own devices *she's* the best judge anymore of what her music should end up sounding like. She did have a lot of input on IYD if you judge by the documentary (a bit of a risky assumption) so you can't blame all that on Dave. He seemed to acquiesce mostly to whatever SHE wanted, which appears to be a big part of why she likes to work with him.

If you're going to count success only by how many platinum albums an artist has, especially these days, maybe you should stick to Mylie Cyrus records. I'm sure she's at least triple platinum.

When IYD came out, I thought it was her best work since Bella Donna. Now, after a couple years, I'm not as enamored of it. I still think it's good overall, though.

Well, I thought IYD was better than Bella Donna, but Bella Donna wasn't my favorite album anyway. I always liked Wild Heart better.
As for the suggestion that she could work with Lady Antebellum, on a song or two, but for an entire CD? I think they would give us more songs like Think About It, After the Glitter Fades, Kinda Woman and the Highwayman. And I wouldn't like to see an overload of those on one album. Two of the slow and moving types is plenty. Michele |

Let me add, I would play Bella Donna, Wild Heart, TISL and maybe even Rock A Little to any of my friends. I would NEVER play them any of the other three.
