Thinking I'm in the minority here, but I think Stevie killed on Tusk- those songs were her best ever in my mind- Sara, Storms, Beautiful Child, SOTM-sublime. I love Lindsey's solo work in the later years, and I like most of his work on the other FM albums, but he sounds totally unhinged on Tusk and maybe it's because he actually was unhinged, idk. I don't see the attraction to his music on there at all, still sounds crazy to me.

Agreed and disagreed. Stevie was on her definate peak on Tusk, but imo they ALL were. Lindsey's music on Tusk was the best he ever did, unhinged or not, but definately on a creative high. But Christines songs are much more free spirited too. Less poppy, more searching. That makes Tusk FM's real masterpiece. Especially because Mick and John were pushed to experiment as well, but with their experience they glued everything together in a real Fleetwood Mac Sound. NOBODY outshone anybody on that album.

Sisters of the Moon? Beautiful Child? Storms? Sara? I'd say it was a pretty good showing from her as well, to be honest... They excel in different areas and I love them both solo. And together. And in the context of Fleetwood Mac. I like the majority of their songs on SYW also and while there are a few I nearly always skip (I'm looking at you, Silver Girl) and some I think would've been served better by being on GoS (hi, Come), I find it fairly consistently good and balanced in terms of 'who's best' as well, really. I guess I'm easily pleased.

Really, the soap opera people keep referring to in this thread is, at present, VERY fan-generated in many ways. I mean, I get the frustration and irritation right now, I do, but a little breath in between diminishing whatever member you feel annoyed by on any particular day wouldn't do any harm...
I agree. Where did anyone say Stevie was not recording with Fleetwood Mac. I think she will, and she will put out her solo record. This is all speculation.

I don't think Tusk was a good album for Christine, relatively speaking, compared to the others. However, I certainly think her songs were a departure from the expected and that's not a bad thing. I mean she needs to have them in her repertoire, to counterbalance Little Lies and Don't Stop, but I feel her tunes were plodding.

Of course, Think About Me is the exception and could have been on any of their other albums and fit in nicely, I think.

I think Honey Hi and Never Forget are in keeping with the overall Tusk theme and I like those. But not the others.

Over & Over, TAM, Never Forget and Brown Eyes are worldclass songs in my book. So I love 4 of the 6 of her songs and I like the other two not so much as individual songs, but as complementary tracks in the whole that is Tusk.

Christine could compliment the Yellow Pages... And I agree, her Tusk work was a nice departure from Rumours, FM, Heroes.. etc..

I won't argue with that, especially since I don't like Come. I thought Illume was a wasted opportunity to show real empathy with all the folks affected by the attack. I was in Manhattan on 9/11, where I used to work, and the self-absorption of the song offends me.

Go listen to Bruce's The Rising for songs that really get it right.

Indeed, great songs from Stevie. Would they have been great without Lindsey's touch?

Go listen to the piano demos of them and decide for yourself.

That's the wonderful thing about music - it's subjective.

No one knows for sure, but probably. Don't forget he's also turned some of her demos into some real clunkers, like "Not Make Believe". After I heard it I actually thought to myself, geez - was he mad at her or something??

But this is all subjective to the listener of course.

There's lots of great Stevie songs that Lindsey had nothing to do with...

Love Stevie but she is only as good as the people she works with. Tom petty and heartbreakers on outside the rain, my favorite song. Her amazing voice and interesting lyrics are only %50 of a song. Still, she does more then most artist. Each FWM members have strengths and weaknesses. They counter balance each other, like Beatles and eagles. That's why they are a great band. Lindsey was great working on the girl's stuff but for some reason his own work doesn't seem to impress too many people. That's too bad. Love all 5 fire flies

yes, but she had other great people to work with

What Lindsey did to Gypsy and Gold Dust Woman was sort of amazing.

That song sucked. Sometimes you can't turn a lemon into lemonade.
