I don't think those were touted as his "best" songs. Those were supposed to be his most Stevie-centric songs. They were written and presented to appeal to Stevie and make her want to sing on them, not necessarily because he thought they were his best. Now that Christine is back, if he has songs that he likes better, he can include them on the FM album and Christine's songs might be used to fill the different sensibilities he was trying for with the EP selections.

To be more clear, I meant contractually within the context of Fleetwood Mac. Not with a record company. FM is a band of 5 people. Putting an album out of only 4 of them does not consist of a band album. They have no choice but to wait for her. Now I don't know this as fact but I'd bet my bottom dollar it is the case.

yes, that's right. and they had that contract in place within FM for the last 20 or so years. that SYW and EP that you all think was released with just 4? figments or your imagination.

They don't have a recording contract so there is no contract that says what constitutes a new Fleetwood Mac album. That's what a recording contract is. That would have to be worked out when they sign a contract. I'm sure you're right as it pertains to the upcoming tour. They can't very well go out there without one of the 5. Or whatever the case may be in the contract. But without a recording contract they can do whatever they want. Not that I think they will. Unless Stevie quit I don't think they would put an album out without her.

i know that you know that the way you decided to string these words together is completely made up.

yes, SN chose one and LB chose another one among his 8 songs - that were specifically written for an FM album - to release on the EP. with his other songs to follow, once they decide to finally release the whole album. and wait, that was the end of 2012?!

all that said, and as i already stated over and over, i don't care whether SN contributes or not to the FM album, and if she does contribute what that is - leftovers, first picks, anything, nothing. if she contributes nothing i will very probably have many less songs to skip on that album.

just get that FM album out.

I agree.It was fine in the 1970's and 80's as crossovers bounce on to the pop charts or pop artist bounce around on the country charts with their songs.

I love southern rock from the 1970's and 80's.I dont know what you call todays country music.

Its a overkill today.They had to do something to make country music survive this day in age.

They fired the banjo pickers ,steel guitar players,washboard players jug players and fiddle players and hired mean rock and roll electric guitar players.LOL...........

I remember when Urban Cowboy was released in 1980 .The pop charts were flooded with tunes from the movie.

I'm more of a solo Stevie fan than I am a solo Lindsey fan, just pointing that out ahead of this. However, Lindsey isn't the one who's been having issues with writing as of late. If working with Dave and that gives her the inspiration and the necessary back-up power to create then that's all the better. However, since Say You Will, Lindsey has had the better track record with producing not just new material, but great new material. I know Stevie has amazing potential, my only concern is that I hope she isn't shafting that potential from the band for her own solo career, especially now that Christine is back after years of complaints over being the only fronting woman in the band and they have the chance to go out on top with great new material instead of fizzling out as a Greatest Hits touring group. Stevie's songs with the Mac are great (although I could leave 2/3 of her Tango contributions), I just want one final great album. Stevie out-did herself with In Your Dreams, it's time Fleetwood Mac out-did themselves and give us one more (possibly final) 5-piece contribution and I'm very much afraid any studio potential will just be 'phoned in' so to speak.

If Stevie is, indeed, recording songs for another solo album, then it looks suspiciously like she's riding on the coattails of the reunion tour to promote her own record. And that doesn't pass the smell test.

If Mick is correct, and her goal is to complete the sessions in two weeks, then you factor in time to mix, master, and press CDs, her new record could easily be released by August. I'm not sure if she still has a solo contract or not, but if she goes the DIY route, it could be even sooner. And what better time to have a new record out than when the band is on a much-covered reunion tour?

The thing is...we still have incomplete information. We only know those few comments Mick made and a few Tweets from Dave. My hope is that Mick is wrong or he's smokescreening, and maybe these are just songwriting/demo sessions for the FM record.

If Mick is correct and the sessions are for a new Stevie record, well...that's really disappointing. With the wheels turning on FM projects, I'd have hoped that she would be more focused on the group.

while the rest of the FM is stupid enough to still wait for her and not have any new songs to promote on this tour...

as we are talking i have more and more respect for her outsmarting the rest of the band, and less and less respect for them allowing themselves to be fooled again and again.
