20 great albums celebrating milestones this year
by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

The Other Side of the Mirror - Stevie Nicks
(released May 11, 1989)
Not as riveting as Bella Dolla or as mystical as The Wild Heart, but just as beloved by Nicks faithful around the world, this album featured a terrific collaboration with Bruce Hornsby. Best track: 'Rooms on Fire.'
Yes, and it was called "Juliet".

I think the article was referring to the song, Two Kinds of Love.

I think the article's careful use of the word "terrific" rules out that possibility pretty decisively.

Do like seeing TOSOTM getting some good press, but unfortunately "just as beloved [as BD and WH] by Nicks faithful around the world" is a flat-out lie.

I don't dislike Two Kinds of Love, but it sounds more like a song that was cut from a Disney animated musical than a Stevie Nicks song. I don't get the "vibe" from it and it's hard to get too excited about. It's not unpleasant. I just like most of the rest of the album a whole lot more.

Except for the two cover songs, of course. But I've done a pretty solid job of convincing myself those two tracks don't even exist.

Yes!

And the studio version of Rhiannon.

I'm gonna be honest. I've never found ANY of her music to be dark. I've never understood why we all describe her music that way. It always makes me feel like I'm in a pretty fairytale land.

Well, I might not say "dark" but I think some of her music is definitely moody and atmospheric. I think Rooms on Fire is.

But I think the same is true of Sara, Rhiannon, Moonlight. I think they have this quality where you're slowly uncovering something, a little mystery that threatens to swallow you. I mean in the same sense that Black Magic Woman does.

A lot of people don't seem to care for the album. I love it, but have to be in the right mood. It's good on rainy days. Love doing the best that I can! It's funny how rooms really is a very positive song, but the only positive one on there. I really like: Juliet, whole lotta trouble, long way to go, cry wolf, and ghosts. Ooh my love is good too. Alice drags a little but it's ok. Like real tears and mirror mirror. The album sold well I believe. Especially over seas. Sorry I didn't read the posts too well, just kind if skimed thru if someone said the same things.

Space Needle ... Street Angel ... Alice ... Joan of Arc ... When I See You Again, Doing the Best I Can ... conjure up images of sunshine and rainbows for you do they?

"Ooh My Love," "Ghosts," "Alice" all still take me to that place the first time I heard the album. Love those tracks...
