Sounds like Stevie is NOT in the studio with them. TitN2.0 isn't the worst thing that could ever happen. Very intrigued. The phrase "the next album" made my heart skip a beat.

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

I think all of this is part of the game that has been Fleetwood Mac since the early eighties (after the release of Tusk) Yesterday was the " Official" news of the upcoming tour and the return of Christine McVie. Christine is in the states to record and rehearse. Stevie is active with her band mates. I'm sure in the next month or so more will be coming out about the details of the progress with the album. I'm sure of it. I have been following this band since 1977 and I will say there is a pattern.

I think they're going to pull a Beyoncé, and just totally surprise everyone, and drop a new album from out of nowhere. Ha!

Fleetwood Mac intentionally causing drama. They would NEVER do that!

I don't think we're going to get a 'Tango In The Night 2,' with Stevie only having a minor level of involvement. Her time in the studio will come, even if they haven't finalized a date for that yet.

Christine commented elsewhere (the Rolling Stone Q&A and the People Online article) that Lindsey has been taking the "rough demos" she sent to him, and "bits that (she) thought were useless," and is "construct(ing) proper tracks" from them.

So if they're really only in the stage of working on Christine's demos and creating fully-formed songs from them -- there's no reason for Stevie to be in the studio. She'd be sitting there twiddling her thumbs. It would be like the old days when they'd tell her, "we don't need you right now," and then would send her off to another room.

they're working on Christine's songs because Stevie isn't there. I don't think they would be focusing solely on Christine if they also had some Stevie songs to work on. You're really trying to put a positive spin on this, aren't you?

I would not be at all upset with another Buckingham/McVie affair!

Yes, this is what I have been saying. They are a nostalgia band now.

This sounds like rationalizing, especially after all the repeated statements that Stevie doesn't want to record. She doesn't want to and that's her prerogative. I don't care if there's an FM album or not, but they should do it without her if the rest of the band wants it and she doesn't.

Like most every other fan, I'd rest a little more comfortably if I knew they were all currently in the studio. However, I have no reason to think the sky is falling.

If what Christine said is true (and there's no reason to think it's not), then some of the demos she gave to Lindsey aren't even wholly formed ideas (hence her amazement that he's even taking bits she thought were "useless" and is making them into something). So, really, it makes sense to me to focus in on Christine's demos right now, if they're in such an embryonic state, as opposed to bouncing back and forth between hers and Stevie's.

Granted, I'm sure we'd all be happier if Lindsey had said, "we're working on Christine's songs now and then Stevie will join us in April or May," but I'm willing to bet that a time-table is being worked out as we speak.

I haven't heard those? When did she say that?

It's part of their process. This is how they've operated for years and years.

Stevie's maintained for the past decade that she didn't want to record another Mac album without Christine. Christine's back -- I don't see anything stopping her now.

Again, Lindsey didn't make it sound like a matter of if Stevie records with them, but a matter of when.

I'm not trying to rationalize anything. Just trying to look at the situation practically.

Look, if it were up to me, we'd have new music yesterday. But I'm not worried.

I don't think Stevie is not in the studio because she's not needed or because they are working on other songs. She has said she guesses she must be vibey because people WANT her in the studio and mind when she isn't. I think there's a conflict with Stevie, which is why she's not there.

However. I am not worried about it. I feel it will be resolved. My guess is there is bluffing. There's a standoff, but it will work out in the end. Michele

Despite my verbosity, I often don't get my point across properly. Which is certainly my fault. I'm not meaning to say that's why Stevie isn't in the studio (although I certainly don't imagine that it's pressing for her to be there yet.) Only that it's nothing to worry about that she isn't, and that I'm certain she will join them.

In other words -- there's no reason, yet, to believe we're going to get a repeat of 'Tango,' with Stevie having only the barest minimum of involvement.
