I don't think Stevie was putting down Pat. Stevie was just distinguishing herself from the other rock & roll artists. You can distinguish yourself from other people without putting them down, you know!

I agree...apparently this was in a conversation about women in rock, so it wasn't about Nikki Six or David Lee Roth. But if this is the only "catty" comment Stevie made about Pat Benatar, I don't think it's catty at all -- it just says 'I wanted to do it a different way.'

And to be fair about it, if she ever did mean to be catty....Pat's getups weren't intended to be elegant and totally invited commentary.

I usually think the presenters at awards shows are a tipoff to who's going to win... when some movie star's best pal is the presenter you figure they're going to win. They made it seem like Stevie was a shoe-in by having Mick there. Wondering if Pat's carrying on about how great it is to win (and the slapping the podium) was her eff you back at Stevie? hehehehe.

Oh I think it was a dig.... in Stevie's own inimitable way. Our girl was a bit full of herself for a while there. She's never one to come right out and say something like that directly, but "no one knows what I say unless you read between my lines"

I think "stomp" is pejorative. Sounds like something clumsy oafs do. I don't think Stevie thinks well of the performers who do that. But I don't know if I thought she meant Pat Benatar in the spandex. In retrospect, I think I've forgotten how Benatar dressed.

That was Pat's claim to fame.

Here you go. Benatar's thing was that she wanted to play in the boys club and developed a schtick from watching Mick Jagger and other Brit male rockers. She didn't want to be androgynous; she wanted to be a girl and look like a girl but still conquer hard rock, which she did. Stevie may think "stomp" was perjorative, but Pat wouldn't have back in the day.

Stevie shouldn't be telling what her and Katy talked about.

From an article on Mayer and Perry

http://entertainment.msn.co.nz/article.aspx?id=8801439

Their friends are also rooting for the pair, including music legend Stevie Nicks. According to the Fleetwood Mac star, John and Katy are perfect together.

"I just saw them on December 30 in Vegas, and that's where I dedicated Landslide to them," she told Us Weekly.

"They seem to be a really great couple, and they seem to really care about each other. I am just hoping for the best for them. It would be great if that relationship really worked out and they were together forever."

The musician believes both Perry, 29, and John, 36, have changed significantly since they first started dating in 2012.

Nicks is convinced despite the on-again-off-again status of their relationship, this time it will last.

"I think they're really good for each other. They're very different people, and that's the best way to go out with somebody," Nicks said.
