As for money, I would imagine that FM is getting most of that from concert people like Live Nation and don't expect to make money off of the album. They may just not be willing to lose any money on it either, though.

I agree with you, I think they should be more daring. But atlas, to coin Lindsey's tired old phase, this is the "big machine!"
Also, both Stevie & Lindsey by now are fully aware of the constraints of recording on a budget these days. Lindsey in his home studio, while Stevie did the bulk of recording at her home, and Reprise/WB gave her @2 weeks budget to finish recording drums & overdubs at a professional studio.
It would be interesting to know if Stevie made or lost money on In Your Dreams? Of course, if she lost money, she recouped on the road, just as Fleetwood Mac will.

The extravagant days of recording are over with this band! No more French chateau's, or renting out mansions in Bel Air, I'm seeing back to Studio City type recording, which probably bodes well creatively speaking & expediting the record to fruition.

If recording starts in March they don't have a lot of time anyway. They will have to rehearse over the summer if they tour in the Fall. Especially if they are going to promote the new album with new tunes.

If FM can do top 10, or top 5 or even #3 that would be great.
Sold like hot cakes? Made it to number 3 but I see no indication that it sold a significant amount of copies overall. The examples I mentioned were based on sales, not chart position, as was the comment I was responding to. I'm not all that concerned with chart position because it's not by itself a good indicator of the album's success these days.

I think if they were starting cold, then yes it would take a lot to have an album done before the tour. But, everybody except Christine just got done touring a few months ago.

Lindsey still has five songs that are unreleased from before, Christine has sent Lindsey a few songs so that he could "Mac them up", and Stevie probably has a few finished demos. Assuming they've all been listening to each other's demos and practicing, recording shouldn't take too long. They could easily be done by June. That would give them July off, and then they could begin rehearsals in August, with the tour were starting sometime in September.

I agree their chops should be very tight. And Christine probably has been playing keys since August before the 02 show. Otherwise there are still a lot of assumptions. Christine mentioned she had 8 songs written. I hope there are some organic processes in the works. But March, April, May, June should be plenty of time to record. July mix/master. 6-8 weeks of rehearsal.
What else are these people going to do anyway? It's good to be busy!

next year is one year too late, as far as i'm concerned, but better than never.

plus, he actually made money on OMS tour. just not FM kind of millions. and him loosing or making money is not something i care about. he has enough. his legacy is something he should care about. sticking with FM is not adding anything to it, that's not already there, really.

I was goofing around with you. I never said you cared about money, but I'm sure he and his family do. His legacy is already great and intact whether he goes solo or not and I'm sure he'll add to it in the near future. You can't really keep this guy from creating.

I completely disagree about FM not adding to his legacy. He has created some amazing FM moments and I hope if they do an album he continues to light it up. I do like Lindsey solo better too these days, but I'm overly curious to see what he and Christine create this one last time.

Who's saying that it's going to be an "instant success" and "new classic?" I don't think anybody is under the illusion that it's going to be a huge hit, nor is anybody expecting it to be like the line-ups first three records. Really, that's not the point at this stage.

The desired music buying demographic that actually bother to buy music anymore are not going to be tripping all over themselves to buy the next FM record just because a 70 year old classic rock veteran came out of retirement to record a few more songs with the group.
I think that's a bit of an overstatement that doesn't take into account how important she was to the band's success, not to mention her contributions to the band's sound. There IS something special to market with her return, but I don't think anybody is realistically expecting a big hit album.
