Christine discussed having her tubes tied before. That's not the first time she talked about not having children. And I don't think she agrees with Stevie that she gave up dating for her career. In fact I think it's just the opposite. She dated, but it wasn't easy to find the right person. The bit about her saying that a man wouldn't understand you not being home to cook his supper did surprise me. But even in the 80s and 70s I think you could find a man who would not expect you to be in the kitchen every night.

Her talking about it being like the Army is in accord with Stevie, but it wasn't a shocking analogy to me. I never doubted that touring was a relentless task. I don't think that anyone thought Stevie was exaggerating about her schedule. The eye-rolling was just because it's the army -- without any gunfire or bloodshed.
