Mostly, though, it's that notion that Stevie Nicks is the only reason Fleetwood Mac is a popular band, that anything prior to 1975 the band was just playing blues and was unsuccessful, and that how dare the band go on with a "hussy"/"Stevie wannabe" like Bekka Bramlett. They refuse to acknowledge that the band already had a legitimate greatest hits album in Europe prior to 1975, that in twelve albums the band had never been dropped, that Christine McVie had more hit singles with the band, and that Stevie (like everyone else in the band) is NOT as big on her own as she is as a member of Fleetwood Mac.
I know not all chiffon-heads are like that, but it adds up.
Also, I think Stevie has been hit-or-miss, with more misses, since 1983. She uses a lot of the same vocal runs throughout an album, EVERY album, anymore.

All of this is unfortunately true. It was Stevie who lured me in when I was 11 (1982). We had Rumours at home and I had heard every inch of that album by the time I was 10. But when "Gypsy" came out I was hooked. Thing is, the minute I bought Mirage and returned to Rumours, Stevie wasn't enough. I found myself really taken with Christine. For me, the turning point was when that same year I heard "Say You Love Me" and this sound made me shiver with excitement. I had NEVER heard a lead voice carry a song like this. By 1983, I had most of the pre-1975 albums and realized this was a band with MANY heroes.
I think Stevie's new solo work is excellent, and I like the way she has grown into her vocals and is making the most of a diminished range. But I get sooooooooooo annoyed, for instance, when I'm watching a YouTube clip of a Christine performance or some pre-BN song and there's all manner of Stevie madness in the comments. Yes, she is great, but when she isn't out front or present, try to enjoy what is in front of you, or don't say anything at all.
