And, since you guys are talking about it...I can't stand the Dixie Chicks version of Landslide...they make it sound so dreary and depressing. There is something not right with the tone of it. I don't know how to explain it...it just sounds all wrong.

Agreed!

Was it Will Rogers or O. Henry or somebody else who said, "Conversation in Texas is seldom continuous"?

Here on the Ledge, it's continuous!

(Actually, the correct word should be "continual" rather than "continuous," but we can't deface historic quotes.)

I actually liked their version. But then again, I like the Chicks. Miley? Not so much.

I really don't want to start anymore rumors here, but wasn't it Mr. Buckingham
himself who said, when responding to these "Miley" to record....."Miley" to join...,
questions from reporters at CNN (or was it FOX?), that Miley is more like "Stevie"
now than Stevie is.

As you can imagine this part of the story was quickly swept under the rug. Can
imagine how Stevie reacted to this!? The Unleashed Tour came very close to being
cancelled. But of course Lindsey backtracked. He claimed he wasn't comparing the
two's performances. More so, that Miley was now going through what Stevie had
herself went through in the mid-70's to early 80's. Lindey also said that Stevie
was lucky to have him look out for her, much the way Billy Ray looks out for Miley.
My only guess would be, that he was implying that Stevie's music would have been
the same cotton candy the Miss Cyrus puts out, if it weren't for him. Again, that's
just my guess.

Most of the negativity seems to be spilling out now from the Cyrus camp. Although
they have still been very tight lipped about the "Mac" situation. When the story
broke that Miley was going to do the Bella Donna album, Cyrus' website and record
label website almost crashed due to all the traffic in the first few days of this news.
And then when she actually met with the band, and everyone agreed it would be
a good idea for her to replace Christine (as mentioned in previous post Lindsey
was the last to agree). Everyone saw dollar signs. And everyone agreed it would
benefit both parties. Cyrus getting go on a real tour, and learn from seasoned vets.
With possibly some of Stevie and Lindsey's songwriting skills rubbing off on her.
And of course the Mac counted on 100% sellouts at all the venues.

So it was Miley responding to Lindsey's original comments that "she was more
like "Stevie" than Stevie is now, said in response "it would have been nice to tour
with them if everything would have worked out. But I think it would have been
hard for Stevie to be on stage with me. We are two different acts, mine being very
high energy and Stevie's being well...what can you say about someone that over
60? For her age, she still does a decent job up there".

So far I have not read a response from Stevie on any of the Mac on Miley's latest
comments. Hard feelings run deep.

I think it would be great if Miley records the Bella Donna album. It will expose Stevie to a whole new generation of fans. Then maybe Stevie might be brave enough to perform The Highwayman in concert.

Some didn't believe there was a nugget of truth to this, but there is an actual nugget.

This from Entertainment Weekly's website.

Friday's Daily Variety reported that Cyrus' June 2009 departure from United Talent Agency to CCA effectively buried a few projects that were in active development, including a potentially "ground-breaking, multi-format music franchise" that would showcase Cyrus' "genre-defying appeal" and "prodigious musical abilities" by having the young singer interpret classic albums recorded by iconic women musicians, including Tina Turner's "Private Dancer" and Stevie Nicks' "Bella Donna."

The Turner and Nicks' albums were part of the project's blueprint, but more than a dozen candidates were discussed, including signature works from Carole King, Pat Benatar, Dusty Springfield, Heart, and Olivia Newton-John. Four albums total would be recorded in one monolithic, three-month session and then released one per-season over the course of a year (possibly as a Wal-Mart exclusive).

UTA reports it did approach management for Turner and Fleetwood Mac about possible one-shot, double-bill "Concert Events" pairing Cyrus with each legend. The concerts would feature one 45-minute set per act, followed by one 30-minute, collaborative set. Project buzz resulted in premature rumors that Cyrus might join Fleetwood Mac as a replacement for its retired singer, Christine McVie.

Even though CCA and Cyrus decided to concentrate on her film career - she's currently filming her first adult role in "The Last Song" based on the Nicholas Sparks novel - Cyrus' lost all claim to the album project since UTA developed the concept independently of Cyrus and reportedly the agency is attempting to cast another musically-adept tween star. UTA declined comment, but there's a supposed short list of back-ups, including Taylor Swift and Rihanna.

I think it's good publicity if it's true.

Deseret News, from an article on Miley by Stephen Speckman

http://www.deseretnews.com/blogs/1,5...ml?bD=20090930

I won't go into Miley's singing voice, which on a good day I don't care for that much. Then again, I'll compare her to Stevie Nicks, who I liked in the context of Fleetwood Mac. Given the right songs, I might like Miley's stuff someday.

I knew I'd heard about Miley and Stevie before.
Truth can be stranger than fiction.

I think if a project like this even ever came close to fruition, I would not only start a petition I would take to the streets in protest! As I'm sure the lot of you would do. I would go on a hunger strike, but Miley is too self absorbed to care (between making fun of Sinead O'Connor and twerking her boney shapeless ass off) because she sold her soul to the corporate devil
