I do have a black cat with green eyes - maybe you could borrow him. I tried to take a picture of him for the avatar but he wouldn't co-operate, so I had to go to google images. Someone I work with told me I should keep him in on Halloween because she had heard of people killing black cats, because they are associated with witches. Again what a load of rubbish - I've never heard of this anywhere before.

I hope this isn't too much of a deviation from Stevie's witchery topic

Whaaaaat!? Black cats are awesome! I'm amazed there are still people in this world to adhere to such superstitions, but I guess I shouldn't be. After all, I still don't walk under ladders.

But jeesh! Poor cats!

I have honestly been asked by people if I worship Stevie Nicks! I have no idea what people are thinking sometimes!

Is anyone scared of Stevie though? In concert, I'd hate to be doing something forbidden with my camera and have her give me one of her deathchilling looks, but I never thought too much that she might put a curse on me. One time, when I was told to stop taking pictures by security, my camera DID mysteriously disappear, but it was at a Lindsey concert, so Stevie did not make that happen. Unless her powers rubbed off on Lindsey. Maybe they can be transmitted from one person to another through, um, bodily contact.

This one time, in Denver, in 1998, for the Enchanted tour - I swear Stevie made it rain. She was singing Dreams, and of course, when she got to the chorus and sang "thunder only happens when it's raining" I *kid you not* it started to rain. The crowd freaked out, I remember a huge swelling of applause and cheering. It was an ecstatic moment.

Of course, the rain caused some issues. It was an outdoor venue. Stevie complained mildly about the rain, and joked that she didn't "have any powers" or something like that, else she would make the rain stop.

For what it's worth, prayer and magic are one in the same. In one you are expressing desires and hopes to an entity you believe to be separate or above you (existentially above); in the other you are willing the energy within the Universe to accomplish something for you. I'm sure I need not remind anyone that energy is never created or destroyed (law of physics), but only changes form. Both prayer and magic are the manipulation of energy to accomplish your intent. Where you believe that energy to originate is a personal preference. I do believe that someday, both will be viewed in nothing but the most scientific of light.

That's a great description - it's similar to what I believe in. I believe there is a lot of power in positive thought and affirmation. Stevie seems to have had some very powerful affirmations - "I'm going to be famous" being one of them.

Well, there's an element of fear inherent in the unflinching belief that someone consorts with demons on a regular basis, sure. Admittedly people who believe that aren't ones who spend much time around Stevie though, so she probably doesn't get to exercise it all that much. I just think being so interesting that some people cannot be convinced that you're not a witch despite endless rational and reasonable argument would be kinda fun.

I like the idea of magical powers transferred through "bodily contact", though... Hm... I still have nothing! I knew I wasn't slutty enough in my youth.

I have considered saying that I Do worship Stevie, just to see what people would say!

I own multiple black cats and work in cat rescue and indeed it IS dangerous to let your black cats out around Halloween. Usually moreso because dumbasses think it's funny to snatch them and do horrible things..... There are just so many wackos in the world. I don't let my guys out on Halloween for sure and for a time before that. Actually, I don't let ANY of my cats out on Halloween.

I really had never heard of this. I live in a quiet area with not a lot of Halloween activity, and I'm fairly sure it doesn't happen here. But as you say, it seems like this sort of thing does go on in some places, and can totally understand why you keep your cats in. I feel for not believing the girl at work now. I'll have to have another chat to her about it. I was taken aback when she said it, as it sounded a bit far fetched.

Well, I'm sure there's a certain mystique about someone rumored to be a witch, but the first time you see them laughing over a singing fish, the illusion is completely ruined.
