Prayers and best wishes for John!
Tony Harnell of TNT had Thyroid Cancer and he has recovered and is back to being one of the best singers in all of music...Cancer is not a death sentence as it once was.

Even though I have suffered FM burnout, I still want to see John recover...Someone in FM has to have talent, and John's the man!

Hope his treatment goes well. Will keep my eyes and ears peeled for updates.

Reports that it was caught early is a step in the right direction.

Given the fact that the gig is about two months away, I think they had better make a swift decision about this show and announce it.
A local Vegas DJ just announced that the radio station would be giving away concert ticket and hotel stay packages all this upcoming week for the December 30 show. Don't know if he is just still out of the loop, or if maybe the band thinks they could still pull it off it it's not during a treatment cycle.

Cancer is definitely not for the faint of heart, and it is something that one does not bounce back from quickly, if ever. Unfortunately, I don't see John back on stage for a long, long time. And if/when he does come back, he will be different. ..... But without John, there is no Fleetwood Mac.

F*** CANCER.
I agree. And it wasn't a precaution check. He sure was feeling not well during the tour. And that unfortunately could mean an advanced cancer. Hope he gets better anyway.

I wish that they would've told us what kind of cancer John has. I know that John is a very shy, private, and reserved guy, but us fans care about you and would like to know.

I also hope the reports are true that it was caught early as well.

A quick Google search of colon cancer came up with about a 75% survival rate If caught early.

I friend of mine just had colon cancer surgery. Fortunately he is doing very wall, as the cancer was not extended. He loose like 20 pounds. But he is 44 and always was healthy, not like John who is 68, had drinking problems in the past, etc. Let's just pray and wait for good news soon (something I don't expect because he is very shy and discreet.

I'm guessing they probably found out during the break between the American and European dates. Perhaps a little earlier.

Here's hoping John responds well to the treatment.

And I also hope for one last hurrah for FM when he gets better. New album, short tour and a live DVD, then they can "close up shop"

Holy heck... I didn't want to see this. Kept hoping it would be a hoax. Couldn't sleep too well last night, kept checking Google. Saw the AU and NZ links, but nothing from USA so didn't want to believe it. Shocked. - BUT....

Godspeed John McVie - we're all pulling for you. It's true, cancer is no longer a death threat, however serious of a disease it is. I know more and more cancer survivors and that's encouraging! My thoughts and prayers to John, his family and all those who love him.

If it is colon cancer and was caught early, I do feel hopeful, because that's what my mother had and she was 65 at the time and has made a more than full recovery.

Her surgery went smoothly. What happened was that after two sessions of chemo she caught an infection, due to low immunities. She ended up in ICU because of that infection. And she did have a prolonged recovery from the infection, not the cancer per se. After that, she refused her remaining sessions of chemo, which I thought to be a great mistake, but 11 years later she's golden. So, I'm hopeful for John. If they caught it on time. Colonoscopies for all.

Michele

Even thinking optimistically that would be pushing it. They need to cancel that show. Unless they are considering getting another basis, which I don't think would help John's state of mind much at all -- even if he was the one to suggest they do that.
