Of course "The Farmer's Daughter" was made for them to showcase their vocal talents, so that's a given. I love it, although I get lost in trying to find Lindsey here. Is he doing a very high note?

The harmony issue on Fleetwood Mac was very incorporated to the sound of the band since early days. Remember that "Station Man" is a very rudimentary three-part harmony, but still a very attractive one. Then Christine did great harmonies with Bob Welch in songs like "Hypnotized" or "Why"... But of course the great moment of harmonization comes into Fleetwood Mac when Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham join the band. They do a great job in "Say You Love Me" and "Rhiannon", for that album. One could always rescue the sound that Stevie and Lindsey reached when they sang as a duo. It was so terrific... "Crystal" and "I Don't Want To Know" are examples.

Oh, so many songs... in fact I believe one of the most powerful reasons for me to start getting in to this band in the first place was the vocal mix. "Little Lies" is sublime; "Everywhere" is just fantastic; "Brown Eyes", "Caught In The Rain", "Sara"... they all have this fantastic background harmony; "Angel", "That's Alright", "Think About Me" are three-part rockers (sort-of); I love the Lindsey/Christine duets on "Hold Me" and "Don't Stop" and the very rare Stevie/Christine duets on "Straight Back" and "Skies The Limit".

I also love the harmonies in the much maligned BTM album!!! I like the fact that they are multiparted and they do not sound like a gospell choir.

Oh, I'll stop rambling now. They did a wonderful work with vocals in those days... That's something they've been losing these days, I believe (except for some Lindsey harmonies in Stevie songs in Say You Will).... Oh well.

Honey Hi is my favorite.
Also, I like Sara, Never Forget, The Chain, Steal Your Heart Away, Little Lies, and Book of Love.

Thumbs up

I LOVE this thread, dissention, because I am an ABSOLUTE FREAK for harmonies!!!

Just about every song conains one fab bit or another, but.....

Christine above Stevie on the "Fingers find..." verse of Straight Back. Chills. Absolute chills! My #1.

Stevie below Christine on Never Forget.

Stevie below Christine on Heart Of Stone.

Honey Hi & Farmer's Daughter. Harmony masterpieces.

Stevie & Lindsey...Say Goodbye live. A magical moment coming to a town near you.

Stevie & Lindsey-Beautiful Child.

Any S & L harmony on the B/N album and outtakes. Wow.

Stevie above Lindsey on Second Hand News.

I know it's not technically "harmony", but let's have a moment of silence (for the hundredth time) for the Lindsey ("bum, bum") & Christine ("ooh, ooh") Eyes Of The World interaction.

To name a few...............

How could I forget "Without You"!?!?!?!?!??!

I want them to re-release BN, but a double album...the second would be all the demos!

If I'd have written a song on "Rumours"? How about "You want a what?", or "We should have had a Pre-Nup". (John McVie)

I agree on You Make Loving Fun. Those ahh-ahh-ahh's are gorgeous.

I love Sweet Girl on the Dance- I just listen to Chris' harmonies.. they are so perfect; right on the money.

Lovely! Don't they isolate that bit for our listening pleasure in the Making Of Rumours DVD?! I seem to recall it giving me chills! (I work a lot and have not had the chance to watch it as much as I would like, so I can't recall for sure......)

This has been my secret hope as well....that the reason it is taking so freaking long to come out is because Lindsey and Stevie want to wait until they can take the time to really do it right! Perhaps working some more on the outtakes and including a 2nd disc or ample bonus tracks. Hmmmm...we can only hope!

(I know, off subject. Continue discussing harmonies.....)
