Default Hmmm

Oh man, I don't recall what year we met her. Maybe 2007?? Was at a bar/restaurant where they had the last Bella Donna Ball in SF, so double win. She had her little dogs with her, and they were making a fuss in the back. The place was so small you could hear them, and she kept apologizing about it. She gave a great set-and was VERY gracious after the show, seemingly at a loss for anyone wishing to meet her, get autograph or have a picture taken with her. I was totally impressed. We also mentioned our love for Stevie, and Maria went on about how awesome SN is!! As a last SN/FM tie in, the guy that opened for her is part of Cake, CVB (they did their own version of Tusk) & Cracker. Can't recall his name, but he was one cool dude too! Quite the musician!! Hope this link works:

Default Year/No Cake/Cocks Crowing/LMAO

Ah yes, little place that we saw her- Café Du Nord:
http://www.yellowpages.com/san-franc...56?lid=5844556 LOVE this joint. Lots of history.
And my mistake, getting my foods all mixed up. lol Session player that opened is in CVB & Cracker (not Cake) and I think I am right about his role in both bands, but that's a sordid mixed up family CVB, so I could also be wrong. Victor Krummenacher, and he was promoting The Cock Crows At Sunrise...which came out in 2007, so I do believe that was when I met Maria. OK, so it was bothering me, so I had to find out and share w/ all of you. lmao.

Any other fans here of 10,000 Maniacs or Natalie Merchant?

I want to like Natalie. She has loads of good sings to her credit. Solo work. I can't name a one by 10,ooo Maniacs. But then Natalie has songs that get played to death and just sound to me like songs made to make songs...not artistic endeavors and they drive my nuts. Perhaps I should get more into 10M and that would give a wider perspective.

I have this! I also have Wishing Chair and Blind Man's Zoo on vinyl, the rest on CD. I love the band and Natalie's solo work. Leave Your Sleep wasn't great though,

Default Photos from an Abandoned Record Warehouse .

Take a look at these pix of an old record warehouse. I think its in Brazil.I might be wrong.

What a loss.

I wonder how many Stevie/FM records got lost in the mess in those photos.

DAMN! Not cool. Even if the writer/taker of pics had had time in the 2 weeks before building was demolished...would 2 weeks have even scratched the surface?! lol. That's a LOT of media.

I love Natalie Merchant too esp. the Ophelia lp/cd , I'd say the first 3 are really great but after that it kind of trailed off someplace different. She has other priorities. She is married and has a little girl so having hit records and LP's I guess isn't her focus anymore. It's a bummer because I think she could've been more successful. I do have the 'Sleep' cd but not listened to it yet. I like it when she writes her own songs. I also liked her with the Maniac's too. Her Ophelia cd will always be awesome though. I recall lots of radio play for Kind & Generous back like 98/99 and the video too.

Blind Man's Zoo is next on my list. I just got a copy of Our Time In Eden, too!

To me, her 10,000 Manaics material is very much like her solo material, as she was typically the primary songwriter for the band. I would check out Our Time In Eden, if you're looking for an intro to 10,000 Maniacs material. it was the last album they made with Natalie.

Ophelia is a favorite of mine - but I like all of her solo material. The Housecarpenter's Daughter is a good one, also, but features traditional americana-folk songs instead of her own writing.

Ok Carpenters fans.. I just picked up a vgc LP of Richard's first solo album, Time. I've never seen it on vinyl before so had to grab it! It was a good price too.

I might need this...

http://www.rhinorecords.com/article/...-on-october-29

Quote:
The Eagles' original Asylum Records studio albums, including each of the chart-topping albums the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers released between 1972 and 1979, will be released on 180-gram vinyl in THE STUDIO ALBUMS 1972-1979, a limited-edition, six-LP boxed set available October 29.

THE STUDIO ALBUMS 1972-1979 includes each of the six Eagles albums that defined an era. Each LP features replicas of the original album packaging with two special artwork upgrades - the sleeve of the debut album, EAGLES, will finally be released as the band originally intended, with no glue flaps, so the cover folds out into a poster, as described in this year's acclaimed documentary History of the Eagles. HOTEL CALIFORNIA will include a replica of the poster from the original issue with band photos by Norman Seeff in full color, for the first time. THE STUDIO ALBUMS 1972-1979 is limited to 5,000 copies and comes housed in an individually numbered slipcase with a gold foil stamp of the band's logo.

THE STUDIO ALBUMS kicks off with the band's eponymous 1972 debut, the first of two Eagles albums produced by Glyn Johns. The disc spawned the hits "Witchy Woman," "Take It Easy" and "Peaceful Easy Feeling," and is followed by the band's second album, DESPERADO, which features the iconic title track and "Tequila Sunrise."

Remembered for the hits "Already Gone" and "Best Of My Love," which was the band's first No. 1 single, 1974's ON THE BORDER follows. That album was the precursor to the Eagles' first No. 1 album, 1975's Grammy®-winning ONE OF THESE NIGHTS, featuring the smash hits "Take It To The Limit," the title track, and "Lyin' Eyes."

Additionally, THE STUDIO ALBUMS includes 1976's HOTEL CALIFORNIA, the album that immortalized the band with the unforgettable title song as well as the hits "Life In The Fast Lane" and "New Kid In Town." HOTEL CALIFORNIA was followed up in 1979 by the band's third consecutive No. 1, THE LONG RUN, yet another multi-platinum effort made famous for the title track, plus "I Can't Tell You Why" and the No. 1 hit "Heartache Tonight."

With lineups that included Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Don Felder, Timothy B. Schmit, Bernie Leadon, Randy Meisner, and Don Felder, the Eagles are one of the most successful bands in history, having sold more than 120 million albums worldwide, earning five No. 1 U.S. singles and six GRAMMY® Awards. The band's EAGLES - THEIR GREATEST HITS 1971-1975 album is the best-selling record of all time, with more than 29 million copies sold.
