Yes I agree.I had the same problem awhile back.The guys on the Pro Radio/TV /Video forum recommend VLC player to me.

It works great and it has great features like adjustable playback speed and frame capture and other goodies too.

Yes I use frame capture feature all the time.

The repeat button next to the frame capture is handy too.
