Favourite Non-famous Stevie Solo Songs

[whitewingdove]

Recently I've made two polls jsut to see exactly how much people like the SUPER hits, but I was a little suprised myself that many people chose songs I wasn't expecting, I've also come across some old threads asking us of our favourite Stevie songs and what I got from them is a lot of people have a hard time or get tired of answering that questions because I think a lot of us get frustrated when it comes down to Edge, Stand Back, I Can't Wait, Talk To Me, and all the duets... so what I tohught of doing is creating a thread totally based on our love for the non-single/non HUGE Stevie songs from her solo career through the years.
Aside from that theres no specific rules, list as many as you like (within reason please )

[whitewingdove]

~Nightbird
~Doing The Best That I Can (Escape From Berlin)
~Love Is
~No Spoken Word
~Some Become Strangers
~If I Were You
~Sable On Blond
~Outside The Rain
~Fall From Grace
~Love Is Like A River
~Desert Angel (I think maybe is was a bside....)

-Strictly demo's I adore and needed to add-
-Blue Lamp (I know this is not a demo at all, but since it was never on one her of solo albums I have always considered it a demo even though it totally isn't. Sorry but I had to put it under this category)
-Thousand Days
-Violet And Blue
-Wild Heart (not technically a demo... but I LOVE the recording of the one with her at a shoot getting her make-up done)
-24 Karat Gold

-Since I'm not a HUUUGE Stevie duet fan I'll throw this list in too-
-Stop Draggin My Heart Around
-Whenever I Call You "Friend"
-Twisted
-You Can't Fix This (Not sure where the hell this would go so let's throw in this category)
-I Need To Know (I actually like the Bella Donna version best, I know this kinda is a duet because she has sang it WITH him before on somewhat recent shows but I'm talking about the BD performance...so technically it isn't a duet it's more ofa cover but I don't feel like making a cover section so let's throw it in this one)
-Leather And Lace
-I Will Run To You

I could probably sit here for another 6 hours moving songs around and changing certain things but I would still probably end up with sometihng very close. This is as good as its going to get.

I really need to impose a number or I'm just going to end up listing 80% of her catalogue. I'll stick with 20. Going with "non-major songs" being defined as ones that were never released for radio airplay or as videos (as far as I'm aware).

You May Be the One (made a minor impression on me at first but is fast become an all-time fav)
Annabel Lee
Everybody Finds Out
Trouble in Shangri-La
Bombay Sapphires
Blue Lamp
Battle of the Dragon
Twisted (Enchanted version)
Street Angel
Doing the Best I Can
Alice (it's true!)
Ooh My Love
Wild Heart
Sable on Blonde
Straight Back
Bella Donna
Beautiful Child
If You Ever Did Believe
Frozen Love
Blue Water

And I'm glad to see mitzo's put The Second Time up. It doesn't make my top 20, but I love that song, too. Never understood the hate.

Me too. A lot of the complaints seem to be about the vocals, which I really don't get. I think her newer voice was settling in nicely and was much more suited to this kind of soft ballad than much of her (IMO far more cringeworthy) soft-singing on Tango and RAL. She also doesn't sound nearly as comatose as she does on many of her songs from around that time, at least to these ears.

I make this easy.I love all whats listed.

I know some of you will come to me and say that I was not happy with her tune with Dave Grohl.

Dilute the guitars alittlebit for I can hear Stevie's voice.Thats my only rant on that tune.

I love to see if the track stems come available for the tune.I will take care of the guitars.
