No, I read the quote too. I was just saying that he can be seen saying it in this video. But yes, we read it. It was right above our posts discussing it. You said he started the rumor and I said that Stevie had also been quoted saying she would love to play Glastonbury, that she saw the concert when she was there in the past and wanted to do it, etc.

Yep. I´m from Prague. But you know... Fleetwood Mac is not so well known "in the East"... and it´s not such a big problem to go to Berlin for me, it´s about 5 hours by train. I travel a lot around here... but it´s true that I wouldn´t have to pay any post fee and hotel.

Today I've got my confirmation email for purchasing tickets for the Cologne show. I've been the biggest fan half my life, and this is the first time I am going to see them live. Words cannot express how excited I am.
I could not afford to see the 03 and 09 show, since the expenses for the whole trip to Germany are high, but this might be my last opportunity to see them, and I am not missing it.

I was thinking about Köln (Cologne) and Stuttgart too, but Berlin is still the nearest and the cheapest for me... eventhougt I was there many times and I could visit some "new city" for me... but to see Fleetwood Mac in Berlin is easier for me .
Where are you from GoldDustBoy?

It´s interesting that the 2009 ticket was for 93 EUR, but now it´s 90 EUR, and I have a ticket to the very near place to stage, not like four years ago, when I was very far away from them. Anyway I paid 145 EUR now because I bought it on viagogo, some kind of middlemen or reseller. When I look to eventim on Friday ... all good tickets were "sold out"... but money is aside now for me, come on, Fleetwood Mac live!

Fleetwood Mac for a mere £125: Has the rock ‘n’ roll resurgence become too expensive?

They aren't the first band to ride the wave of nostalgia back into the public spotlight - and expect fans to pay the (extortionate) price.

When tickets to Fleetwood Mac’s UK tour went on sale Friday morning, elation quickly turned to outrage as fans were faced with tickets costing as much as £125.

“Sorry Fleetwood Mac but your tickets cost more than my rent,” tweeted one bitter fan. Others were similarly unsympathetic. “When do tickets for Fleetwood Mac go on sale? Just so I have time to sell my arse to Satan for the cash,” groaned @Spiral_Scratch. “Why not sell your tickets at a reasonable price?! Or do bands only like their rich fans in attendance these days?” commented @KimSim21.

Despite such protestations, tickets to see the immortal rock veterans sold out in minutes. Of course, Fleetwood Mac is not the first band to ride the wave of nostalgia back into the public spotlight. Led Zeppelin arguably kick-started the current trend with their 2007 O2 arena gig, a one night only reunion that saw lucky £125 ticket-holders picked at random.

At the Rolling Stones’ 50 Anniversary concert last year, Mick Jagger openly joked about the £395 price tag for some seats, stating the band’s £100,000 curfew fine amounted to “like ten seats.” With Roger Waters dusting off his old Pink Floyd opus The Wall for a £79 resurrection in September, and Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey’s similarly priced ‘Quadrophenia and More’ tour hitting UK arenas in June, it seems the behemoths of Sixties and Seventies pop culture are all clamouring to get one last shot at stardom.

This phenomenon is not just consigned to the arena either: Fleetwood Mac’s announcement that they have three new songs lined-up for their autumn tour is no new feat for an aging rock outfit; Stevie Nicks and co. have joined David Bowie, the Stones (again) and even Prince in releasing new tracks, albeit in the wake of iconic re-releases and re-packaged boxsets. While such marketing strategies in no way detract from the merit of the music, it is hard not to wonder whether waning royalties have anything to do with this newfound enthusiasm.

Of course, a large part of the problem lies not with the musicians but the touts. Ticket touting is legal in the UK, yet with the unchecked rise of the industry online it is increasingly hard to understand why. It is widely believed that touts now use illegal automated ‘bots’ to buy up vast swaths of tickets when they appear online, with the intention of selling them back to the consumer at double or even triple their original value.

On top of mind-boggling booking fees, police estimate the lucrative industry accumulates £1 billion a year in this country alone. In a distasteful act that shows even death has its price, touts are even selling tickets to Dr Feelgood guitarist Wilko Johnson’s farewell tour at an inflated rate. Ticket site Viagogo defended the move, arguing that there has always been an “aftermarket” for tickets.

With both Fleetwood Mac and the Rolling Stones rumoured to headline Glastonbury this year, perhaps the question we should be asking is why bygone bands are once more enjoying their moment in the sun. Sadly, the return of these pop culture juggernauts says far more about the current state of modern music than their desire to shift 40-year-old records. In times of political apathy and economic uncertainty, it is perhaps understandable that sure-fire rock ‘n’ roll hits are such a popular form of escapism. But at such a high price, it is up to ticket buyers to ensure they won’t get fooled again.

Rolling Stones struggling to sell high-price tickets in US

With one day to go before their North American tour opens at Los Angeles's Staples Centre, the $600 tickets are still on sale

Sean Michaels guardian.co.uk, Friday 3 May 2013
http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2013...ickets-us-tour

Are Rolling Stones fans balking at their high ticket prices? With hours to go before the band kick off their 2013 tour, hundreds of tickets seem to be languishing at the box office of Los Angeles's Staples Centre.

Glancing at the North American concert dates on the Stones' website, there is one clear pattern: only the cheap seats are sold out. As the band prepares to begin their first major tour in six years, they have been releasing more and more $85 (£55) tickets for what is otherwise an insanely pricey show: a huge proportion of tonight's seats cost between $450 (£290) and $600 (£386), plus a "convenience fee". This would seem like generosity were it not for the fact that with time ticking down until the Stones hit the stage, there are still tickets available in the vast majority of the Staples Centre's sections. At the time of writing, groups of four fans can still buy seats on the floor (at $600 per ticket), and couples have their pick across most parts of the hall.

For comparison, Fleetwood Mac are also playing tonight, at the Verizon Arena in Little Rock, Arkansas. That gig has drawn none of the publicity of the Stones' return to California – it's the 16th date on Fleetwood Mac's US tour, which follows a four-year hiatus. But according to Ticketmaster, only a handful of seats are available for that show.

Industry observers began questioning the Stones' sales after blogger Bob Lefsetz pointed out the situation on his blog. "To anyone not working in investment banking, [Stones tickets] are extremely expensive," Pollstar editor Gary Bongiovanni told Bloomberg News. While he doesn't doubt that the show will sell out, "it ... won't be with people who paid $600 a seat". The concert's promoter, AEG, said they "fully expect Friday's Staples Centre show to be sold out and are very pleased with ticket sales for all upcoming shows".

Certainly the Stones didn't have any trouble in the UK, where they quickly sold out two gigs at London's Hyde Park. This year's Stones-headlined Glastonbury festival is also sold out. Although some fans complained about the Hyde Park prices, which ran from £95 to £375, guitarist Ronnie Wood insisted that the costs were fair. "We've already spent a million on rehearsing in Paris," he told the Telegraph. "And the stage is going to be another few million. And the lights. We feel no bad thing about ticket prices. We've got to make something."

The Rolling Stones' last tour, A Bigger Bang, brought in more than £350m over two years. It was the second-highest grossing tour of all time.

Hydro ‘will open on time’ insist operators

http://www.scotsman.com/news/arts/hy...tors-1-2936680

By CHRIS MARSHALL, The Scotsman
Published on 19/05/2013 00:00

THE operators of a new music venue have denied reports it will be forced to cancel top rock and pop acts because work on the 12,000-seat arena is months behind schedule.

The Hydro, which is under construction at Finnieston in Glasgow, by the River Clyde, was reported to be two months behind and running millions of pounds over budget.

The new venue, which sits next to the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), was said to be the subject of legal wrangling between contractor Lend Lease and the client, the SECC.

However, a spokesman for the SECC said there was “no legal dispute” which would prevent the *scheduled opening in *September.

According to reports yesterday, Lend Lease is holding out for around £98 million, while the SECC is sticking to a fee of around £90m in a disagreement over the final bill.

Delays in completing the venue were said to be casting doubt over shows by acts including Fleetwood Mac, Depeche Mode, Peter Gabriel, The Proclaimers, Jessie J, and Andrea Bocelli.

However, the SECC said the claims relating to the legal dispute were “out of date”.

A spokesman added: “We will be announcing a very high-profile opening act for Scotland’s new home of live entertainment shortly”.

Organisers hope the new venue will free up the SECC for more exhibitions and attract more major music acts to play Glasgow.

The first concert currently advertised for the new arena is opera singer Andrea Bocelli, on 15 September.

Two large stage shows – Peter Pan and Jesus Christ Superstar – and Fleetwood Mac are also planned for the first month.

Reports yesterday said SECC chief executive John Sharkey had been in talks for most of last week with Lend Lease.

Sharkey was said to be attempting to find a breakthrough and had told fellow board members that while there are efforts to pull out all the stops for a September opening, the alternative date of the end of November was realistic.

Thank god I got London tickets instead of Glasgow.

We in Scotland seem singularly unable to manage a project properly thesedays. Ugh.

just curious - if they have to cancel Glasgow show because venue does not exist yet, do you all think they'd replace it with another show somewhere else (some other venue in Glasgow? Scotland? UK? add another London show maybe?) or just outright cancel?

Helsinki show that was not selling got replaced by Amsterdam since the first one there sold out within hours.
