Stevie's limp

I care about what Stevie wears, but not about the footwear. I want her to wear something that won't make performing more difficult for her and I don't want her to worry about choosing something attractive. She wears those short boots now and although they look better than the Reeboks, she still may not be a comfortable as she should be and, if that's the case, give me the sneakers. I don't say this because I don't want her to worry. I just want her to worry about other things.

Regarding, IYD she talked about having to blow dry her hair and get dressed because they were shooting the documentary and recording at her home and she laughingly said that that could have been a deterrent. It sounds like a joke, but I think she does concentrate too much on how her feet look and the fact that the fans want the boots and what's a palatable alternative. Let that go.

I don't say she shouldn't focus on her appearance. She should. I judge that. If I didn't like her hair, I would recommend she spend 2 hours a day trying to fix that. But whatever she chooses to eliminate body pain is fine and I don't want her to obsess about it, as she is wont to do.

Someone mentioned arthritis - this wouldn't surprise me - I watched her perform Rhiannon at the piano in a 2011 video and her fingers were somewhat contorted.

of course she's a grown woman and can wear what she wants. However, she is Stevie Nicks and her visual presence has always been part of her allure, her mystique and her "brand". Should she wear shoes that are comfortable and allow her to move about freely? Absolutely. I personally think she performs better when she isn't wearing the boots. But her fans still want her to look like Stevie Nicks. You can't blame them for that.

I can't believe Stevie spent much time on her appearance during the IYD recording sessions - she looks awful and drab throughout the documentary. She should have concentrated more on losing some pounds (if she was worried about her appearance), pulling her head in and listening to Dave's direction - that would have improved the album.
Did anyone else notice in the documentary that after the brief scenes of Stevie and Dave performing Landslide and Rhiannon for the unaired HBO tv show, that when it cut back to Stevie being interviewed, her face looked noticeably lifted? I thought the alteration of her facial features was quite apparent.

I noticed in a lot of the videos past and present she wore the monitor pack on her right side and fidgeted with it throughout her performances. Now it must be placed on her back, because I noticed her adjusting it there. I too wonder if the shoes are not causing her feet and legs to hurt. I am soon to be 63 next month and shoes cause a lot of leg and back hurts.

I agree. Have you guys forgotten how horrific those shoes were? Before seeing those shoes, I too would have said "I don't care what shoes she wears!" After getting an eyeful of the ugliest shoes I had ever seen in my life, however, I changed my mind. Comfy does not mean hideous, and those were beyond hideous. Combined with the chiffon dress under a granny sweater.... Oh gosh, what had happened to Stevie the fashion icon?!

Even worse, they took away from her trademark brand of sex appeal in such a noticeable manner that later she would market shirts proclaiming "The Boots Are Back."

Ten years later and the Frankenboks are still burned in my brain! :: shudders ::

Again, one can get comfortable footware that looks good, too. I hope her ankle boots don't hurt her because they look fab.

I’m going to come right out and say it: Stevie Nicks cannot just wear what she wants, at least not when she’s performing as Stevie Nicks. When she’s in the privacy of her own home or out shopping, sure, she can put on a potato sack for all I care. But when she’s being “Stevie Nicks,” she needs to put on her “work” clothes, and that includes the boots.

I say this because Stevie herself has spent decades shaping and cultivating a public and stage image that has made her a very popular and wealthy woman. She is the one who, as she has said numerous times, sketched out her look many years ago: flowy dress, top hat, high platform boots. The boots have ALWAYS been part of her performance attire. And to this day, when she describes her look, she ALWAYS mentions the boots. She is the one who continues to sustain that image, even going so far as to sell a T-shirt that said something to the effect of the “boots are back.”

Call me superficial, but when I go to see Stevie solo or with Fleetwood Mac, I do pay attention to what she’s wearing, because that’s part of her mystique; it’s part of her appeal; and her fashion and style is something in which she supposedly prides herself. Pairing platform Reeboks with chiffon dresses IS NOT acceptable for a star of her magnitude. I’m sorry, it’s not.

What’s more, it’s not as if Stevie wears her platforms all the time. She wears them for 2 hours on stage. As we saw in the In Your Dreams film, she wears sneakers or Uggs or regular shoes most of the time.

I’m sorry if this post riles people up; I mean no offense to anyone. This is just my opinion, and I support (but respectfully disagree with) those here who are of the belief that Stevie can wear what she pleases. It’s all good……

Stevie wants to wear the boots. If she could she would. Like you said, the t-shirt is proof of that. But it seems like she's physically limited in her ability to do so anymore. After a certain point, it's not really a choice. Maybe you can say it's a choice if she wears ugly replacements or flattering ones. But if she goes back to flats, it won't be based on a wardrobe preference and it won't be because she decided to relax on stage. It will be because her body hurts.

If she loses her arm in a car accident, I'll try to come to terms with the fact that she can no longer play the tambo.

Honestly guys she could go onstage in sweatpants and tshirts with reeboks on and weigh 300lbs. Wanna know how much I'd care? Not at all. I don't go to see a hot chick in chiffon and heels, this isn't 1977. I don't expect a 65 year old woman to look like a model or dress up like a goddess. I couldn't care less if she has wrinkles or extra weight or even any make-up on. I go to see my idol and listen to some awesome music by legends.
Maybe i'm weird but I just don't think it's fair that we expect a 65 year old woman to wear the same shoes and outfits that she wore 30 years ago. My vote is that she should wear whatever makes her happy and comfy because it's hard to rock if you're in corsets and stillettos. And rocking is what I pay to see.

Stevie should wear whatever feels comfortable regarding her feet. WGAF.. I don't pay good money to watch her feet, im there to listen & watch her perform..
Give her a break, Geez!! She is 64 and has paid the price for wearing platform boots for most of her life.. Have some compassion people!!!

She's got to wear something comfortable .I had a pair boots with the heels cut down and now they feel so comfortable like sneakers.

She can wear even sandals or her slippers on stage.I wont care.

Hey, I just got back from the concert in Calgary. It was great, I can post more about it later, but I just wanted to post what Stevie said about her limp. She said she had a bad fall two weeks ago, her knee was really messed up and she thought they might have to cancel shows. She said she has had the sports doc for the Calgary Flames hockey team working on her knee and it is much better. she even dedicated Landslide to him.
She was moving slowly tonight, but not limping too noticeably.
