So, she was mad at Lindsey for his being mad?

Or, she was mad about not winning a Grammy and blamed Lindsey?

No one ever said this band made sense.

From everything I've read/heard it sounds like Chris was just fed-up with being in FM in general - touring, being in the spotlight etc. She had been trying to move to England since the early '90s and was also going through a divorce during the Dance and I think she was just totally over it all.

This makes me wonder - did Chris not want to play on stage in the UK for the SYW shows, or did the band not want her to? I'm very pleasantly surprised that she will perform with them, but I am curous what's different this time around.

I think she didn't want to. There's an interview with her on YT which was taken after ITM and she said she did go to a show but was quite comfortable watching them work their butts off from the sound booth

She also said that it would take a lot of rehearsing since they had that big back up band and she didn't feel like it.

I agree with your first thought, GypsySorcerer. I think Lindsey was mad/angry/upset about not winning the Grammy. He was causing a big stink about it and Christine was like "This is ridiculous, I gotta get myself out this mess". At a certain point, you get fed up with the drama and just want out. Self-preservation and all that stuff.

They were never going to win for The Dance. All of their nominations were for songs written 20 years earlier. Even the hit Silver Springs. The bigger crime is that Stevie never won for any of her solo nominations, especially for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.

The sad thing is... the people that beat Fleetwood Mac that year were Shawn Colvin and Jamarqui. However those are spelled. Sure, both were good songs in their own right, but not memorable. Say the name Fleetwood Mac or mention The Dance and both are Historical. Even teenagers know about them thanks to Glee, The Voice, etc... but say "Sunny Came Home" or "Virtual Insanity" and the only people that remember them are those that listened to top 40 in 1997 and or listen to the 90s on 9 on Sirius XM. HA!

Well said. That's like Mariah Carey's entire career. LOL I know that's harsh, but she's definitely not as enduring as other artists. Her concert sales for her last tour were awful.

She was pretty adamant that she would NOT tour back then, and I believe she was against performing live on stage in general, even if it was just a one time thing (she did say she was wiling to record back then...)

So what changed her mind?
